Well, today's gone a bit strange. I have what I assumed was a boil or cyst under my arm. I occasionally get them there and generally they're a bit frustrating as they don't come to a head and eventually die down on their own. I had one nearby a few months age and it left a lump which didn't hurt so I didn't do anything about it. I thought this might be the same one flaring up again, but I'm not sure.

It got quite troublesome last week but I was away from home so didn't do anything about it beyond trying hot water and mag sulph without effect.

So today I decided to wander to a walk-in clinic and they drew their breaths in sharply, said it was an abscess, and sent me off to A and E who have now dispatched me to this surgical ward to have it dealt with. So now I've been sitting in this empty ward for over an hour gently wandering if they've forgotten about me, and how I'll get home. And I'm now thinking uneasily about those videos and wandering what's in store ...

Sorry, I didn't think about a photo, but it's basically just a large red lump and not that exciting.

Doctor just appeared and started taking a history but got called away. Apparently they need blood tests before they'll do anything so I can see this being a late one. Starting to wonder whether I should have brought my toothbrush 😟

Could you ask a nurse to take a photo?

Are you feeling poorly what with it being an abscess?
How long have you been in hospital?
I still think we need a photo, just to ascertain exactly HOW big is this "large red lump". Nip to the loo and take a picture in the mirror!

also trying to appear caring and not morbidly interested

Well, that turned out to be a waste of time. When the doctor eventually turned up he dithered a bit, went and consulted a colleague, and decided to give antibiotics a whirl. So no tales of gallons of pus to regale you with. Though maybe that will still happen Grin. Lump is around 5 cm according to hospital's measurements, but I haven't been feeling poorly apart from a mild headache today which could be totally unconnected - which is probably why they decided it didn't need any dramatic action.

And I've just smeared mag sulph over it in the hope of encouraging it to come to a head, so still no photos possible.
