NOW CLOSED Are you a cooking enthusiast? Waitrose.com are looking for MNers to attend a Michelin-star cookery masterclass - sign up here!
(208 Posts)Waitrose.com are offering 12 Mumsnetters (plus one guest each) a chance to attend a Michelin-star cookery masterclass at Waitrose Cookery School in London. They're looking for cooking enthusiasts who are interested in learning Michelin-star cookery skills from a professional chef and are keen to share their passion for food with like-minded Mumsnetters.
The event will take place on Saturday 12th May from 11am - 4pm at Waitrose Cookery School in North London. The venue is easy to get to using public transport (close to Finchley Road tube station on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines).
Throughout the day Mumsnetters and their guests will be cooking a three course dinner party menu with all ingredients provided by Waitrose.com. Each course will be served in the dining room and you will have a chance to enjoy the menu you have prepared with a glass of wine specially selected to go with each course. The aim of the day is to inspire you to create your own Michelin-star-inspired dinner party menu!
The day will be filmed and the video will appear on Waitrose.com and possibly elsewhere. Please only apply if you're happy to be filmed. After the event you will be asked to leave written feedback on a thread on Mumsnet. Everyone who is selected to attend and adds their feedback on MN will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher for Waitrose.com.
If you would like to attend please sign up here. When signing up, please vote for the starter, main course and dessert you would most like to cook (and eat!) on the day. The three most popular dishes chosen by Mumsnetters who apply to go along will form the menu that attendees will be cooking on the day. Here's a few of the choices on offer to whet your appetite!
~ Roast scallops, potato gnocchi and truffle emulsion
~ Rack of lamb with braised peas, bacon, lettuce and mint. Dauphinoise potatoes
~ Inverted lemon tart, summer fruit salad and lemon yoghurt sorbet
Please let us know about all dietary requirements when you sign up to take part. As you'll see from the menu choices, all of the starters and main course options include meat or fish. If you're a vegetarian, apologies - this probably isn't the event for you, sorry.
Attendance is by invitation only - we'll be in touch with full details if you are selected.
Thanks and good luck
MNHQ
Oooops! In my excitement at this offer I applied and was promptly reminded by DH that we are going to be away at that time.
Can my name be removed? at whomever is chosen.
Done. <crosses fingers and toes>
I like giving parties rip.
fuckit. i've applied. despite being fat and ugly and probably working nights that week. OOOOh I'll be just the sort waitrose will want on their film, looking my absolute finest.
ShirtyKnot - are you buggery. Well, you're sweary, but you're not hideous. And you make damn fine sweetie vodkas.
StickingLaboutin I have removed you from the list, thanks for letting me know
Oooh, me me me!
I love cooking, and the Waitrose cookery school is lurvely! I went to a venison cooking lesson there which was amazing, but that was watching rather than actually cooking.
Done! Would be fantastic to take part in this
Ah man, all the good stuff happens in London....don't suppose MNHQ wants to pay to fly me from Belfast? No? Didn't think so.
ohhhhhhhh I would love to do this but I'm away, boo hoo. I wonder if it's Heston.
This would be my dream
I knew I should have stayed living in London.....stuck in Scotland.....
Shall I apply Frank? We can go together!
DS (16) has begged me to enter with him as guest. Maybe his phrase in the kitchen will change from "Jamie says......"
Shirty - yes. Then we could accidentally stumble across a cocktail bar on our way back down to the correct side of the river. It would be extremely rude not to I feel
oh PLEASE. Me. Me me me.
Done!
THIS is why I joined MN. Sounds amazing!
Pick me, pick me, pick me....!
Here I am! I'm your gal. Have been a mumsnetter since 2006 and have really loved cooking since being a SAHM (around 2009)
I STARTED eating meat after being veggie for 24 years after having my two boys. Pregnancy made me crave meat. I love food.
My love of food has turned into a love of cooking. I'm a stay at home mum and I find cooking gives me a creative purpose.
Make me happy!
Done diddy done done.
<wonders how to tell MrW if MrsW gets a place>
London, London, always London
Would there be a role for a one-woman Kitchen Nightmare, do you think? I could be the ine who shows just how good the others are, and provides the comedy diversion for the patronising voice-over.
"And in the Blue Kitchen, Blu seems to have made a disastrous confusion between an amuse bouche and the Mighty Boosh.."
I would have loved to have applied for this BUT am GUTTED that vegetarians are excluded. I would love to be able to cook stunning vegetarian food. It's out there somewhere!
Oh. <thick emoticon>
Thought I had to plead to you.
Have filled in form now.
Please pick me though.
Bum nuggets. London. Wouldn't be able to get there for this due to other financial commitments. Sigh.
