Many thanks to all those who participated in the Chedds creamery and farm visit to Davidstow. Thank you for coming and helping make the day as fun and exciting as it was!

By way of background - Chedds invited three Mumsnetters and their families to attend an action-packed day at Davidstow. They got to make cheese, have a tour of the creamery and spend an afternoon on the farm with the cows!

This is the feedback thread for those Mumsnetters who attended to post their views on how the day went. Please also include the views of your DP/DD/DS.

If you'd like to know more about Chedds please click here.

Here's a few feedback questions but these are just to start you off - if you have any more comments, please feel free to add them to your response.

1 What was the highlight of the day for you and your children?

2 What did you discover about the cheese making process?

3 What were your overall impressions of Chedds?

Many thanks
MNHQ

Well, DS2 listed it as a highlight of his holiday - it ranked second after crabbing off Padstow Harbour! Both boys loved the farm visit and seeing the cows and DS1 loved making cheese at the creamery.

We all learned how to make cheese - ds2 who is 4 thought you needed cream and flour to make cheese before we went to the creamery and I never knew that they added bacteria to make it taste good.

Our overall impression of Chedds is good - both boys liked the taste and the cheese / toast packs were a particular hit. The only downside is the packaging, neither of the boys (aged 4 and 7) can open them without help and even I struggle so please can you make them easier to get into.

We all had a great time, thank you for inviting us and a special thank you to Sally and her family for making us so welcome on your farm.

We had a brill time!! DD's (6) highlights were getting stuck into hand making the cheese, seeing the inner workings of the Creamery (she said as we drove into the entrance 'wow, it looks like Willy Wonka's factory') and herding the cows down for milking at the farm in the afternoon.

DS's (5) highlights were the chocolate biscuits in board room, running up and down the corridors of the Creamery (thanks Creamery staff for being so understanding!) and most of all seeing the cows at the farm.

Our familiy found the whole experience very interesting to get a glimpse of what goes on before the block of cheese arrives on the supermarket shelf and all the work from the dairy/creamery etc that goes into it. We all learnt loads and had a lot of fun to boot.

Both kids like Chedds but I would echo the feedback above from Bert that the packaging of the cubes is a bit tricky. That said, the Chedds products are great for packed lunches and in particular the cubes are just right for little fingers. The toast packs are 'yum' in dd's own words.

Thanks so much to all involved on the actual day who were so accommodating of ds (thanks for pushing the chair throught the mud Charlie) and making sure he was included in the activities.

A special thank you to Sally's dd for being so sweet to my dd who was quite in awe of her and stuck to like glue for most of the afternoon.
