Mumsnet users share how they relax when they have 10 minutes spare with Nintendo

For parents, little moments of relaxation can be few and far between, if they happen at all! Reaching the bottom of your never-ending to-do list is a good enough excuse for a little celebration to cherish the spare moment of having some me-time. With this in mind, Nintendo would like to hear how you relax when you have a few minutes to spare.

Here’s what Nintendo has to say: “It’s not easy to switch off when you’ve had a hectic day but it is important to spend some precious moments on yourself even if that means ten minutes with a cup of tea on the sofa. But what if you could spend those ten minutes escaping to a deserted island? Sit back and relax in a calming world that enjoys the slower pace of life whilst you build up your island however you want in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

What do you do to relax when you have as little as 10 minutes to spare? Do you take the opportunity to have a quick power nap before you’re inevitably interrupted by your babbling toddler or disgruntled teenager? Perhaps you call your friend for a well needed gossip catch-up? Or maybe you pick up and dust off that book you bought months ago which you have never got around to reading?

Whether you go for a head-clearing walk, scroll through social media or play a quick video game, share on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I always tell myself than even 5 or 10 minutes doing something for me is worth it and makes a difference to how I feel. I often don't even get the time for a cuppa so that is my starting point for a treat and a bit of me time. Having a book on the go also gives me something to look forward to for when I have a spare 10 minutes.

If I have 10 minutes I relax with a caramel cappuccino and literally zone out on the sofa with the dog. My mind kind of drifts, it's lovely.

I pick up my book with good intentions of reading it and then start daydreaming.

It's a toss up between a good book on the Kindle or Dragon Quest XI Definitive Edition on the switch.
Also love a bit of mindless scrolling through Reddit & mumsnet!

I'm a sucker for those "idle" games. Idle tycoon, idle miner. I love them because they self play when you are off line and you can just dip in and out

I either sit and read a book or have a scroll through mumsnet with a coffee. Particularly the Christmas bargain thread which usually leads to me clicking and following links all over the internet looking at the bargains!

I often spend a spare 10 minutes browsing mumsnet on my phone or doing a bit of online 'window shopping'. However, I'm realising that doing this isn't actually all thay relaxing as my brain is still whirring! So I've got an adult sticker book (as an tiny mosaic stickers, not rude ones!), and a blank notebook which I can use as a diary if I need to use my 10 minutes to unpack my brain jotting down ideas, to do lists or remembering the sweet things the kids have done before I get back to the rest of the day!

I sit on my sofa and close my eyes for 10 minutes.

I usually have to set my alarm though just incase the 10 minute power nap accidentally turns in to a full sleep. Grin

I have a look at the day's crossword. It keeps my brain active and also takes my mind off the day-to-day...very relaxing. All day to do (or try to) the Guardian crossword , in short bursts is heavenly.
