Share your tips for managing colds and flu with Lemsip - £100 voucher to be won

Traditional cold and flu season may be behind us, but memories of how a cold and flu make you feel won’t be. Whether it’s a sore throat, blocked nose or a full blown fever, there’s a product out there designed to help with the symptoms. With that in mind Lemsip would like to hear about the ways you usually manage a cold or the flu, what type of products you use and what makes you choose them.

What do you usually do when you start to feel unwell? What do you find helps the most? Are the solutions you like the ones that make you feel physically better, or those that keep your spirits up while you’re under the weather? What do you use to help keep the symptoms at bay so you can get some much needed rest overnight? Do you find natural remedies help? What would make you reach for a hot drink remedy?

I really don't like the artificial sweetener taste of the Lemsip drink so I'll usually take one of the capsules (or a couple of paracetamol) and wash it down with a cup of chamomile tea with lemon and honey added. Chamomile is great for colds as it's supposed to reduce swelling in mucus membranes. Lemon for vitamin C and honey to soothe a sore throat.

I try and rest as much as possible, eat comfort food and drink lots of tea.

I have a hot bath in the evening to try and clear my sinuses before bed.

Have some paracetamol initially, keep hydrated and also try and rest up.

Whenever I'm in the US (or when I can convince a friend who is travelling there!) I stock up on Tylenol cold and flu medicine. It's neon blue and has god-knows-what in it but it knocks me right out at bedtime and I always feel much better after taking it.

A warm drink every hour. Blow your nose gently, one nostril at a time. Know what the maximum dose of paracetamol is - remember that Lemsip has paracetamol in it. Sucking on any old sweet will help soothe a sore throat. Have a shower. You don't have to eat if you're not hungry but you have to drink.

I just use paracetamol, try to get some fresh air, drink plenty water, hot drinks help with the steam. Soft tissues and a bit of Vaseline on nose before bed helps stop a sore, red nose.

I drink lots of orange juice for vitamin C and do steam inhalation with menthol crystals to help clear my sinuses.

Plenty of fluids! We have a 'sick pack' full of the essentials, lempsips, throat lozenges, tissues, nose balm for the soreness from blowing noses

Cold remedy capsules and hay fever relief tablets to stop the runny nose.

Plenty of fluids. I find it easier to drink warm drinks such as hot squash or lemon tea when I have a sore throat.
Plenty of zinc and vit c - more than you think. My GP suggested 1 of the effervescent tablets every hour when my immune system was low or as much as my bowels could tolerate.

In reality I usually end up just struggling through.

I find cold & flu tablets really effective, so I always make sure to have some of those in the medicine cabinet ready for when a cold attacks. I also find a hot steamy shower before bed really helps me to get to sleep too.

My top tips:
Cocooning in pjs, dressing gown and slippers, after a hot bath. Lots of cups of tea and beechams all in one medicine. Buttered toast and chopped up fruit to eat.

Hot steamy baths.
Lots of fluids
Cold relief capsules
Tissues with balm and Vaseline smeared around sore nose
Plenty of sleep.

Drink lots of water, have a lemsip - i like original lemon - and go to bed early.

Ginger - keep it in the freezer and grate it into hot water with lemon and honey

I love lemsip I find is so comforting. If I have a cold coming I stock up on lemsip throat sweets and try to rest as much as I can. I also take vitamins and try to eat more nourishing foods.

I think being kind to yourself when you are feeling unwell is important - trying not to do too much and finding the time to rest and try to sleep as well as possible. Keeping the kettle filled with boiled water and sipping warm water through the day as well as hot drinks like tumeric tea, plenty of honey and lemon and grated ginger in there too. Up any vitamins. Indulge in watching daytime TV or reading a book.

In theory I would rest, drink fluids and take a paracetamol. In reality, as someone else said, I just end up struggling on.

Lots of fluid - I guess water would be best though I find a nice cup of milky tea helps when I'm feeling under the weather.
Lots of rest too if possible, ideally snuggling under a blanket on the sofa watching TV (something nice & easy going like Bake off or Masterchef!).
