This sponsored discussion is now closed.

Even if we usually don’t, most of us tend to start paying attention to our feet when sandal season rolls around. However, foot care routines can be something that it’s easy to neglect, particularly if you’re not going anywhere for anyone to see them. With that in mind, Scholl would like to hear about your foot care routines and tips, and how they might have changed during lockdown.

Here’s what Scholl has to say: “The lockdown has meant more of us have been staying at home. And while we’re not out and about on our feet as much as usual, it can certainly feel like we are around the house, meaning our feet still need to be looked after. With this in mind, Scholl would like to learn more about how the lockdown has changed or impacted your footcare routines and any tricks or tips you have.”

Do you have a relaxed attitude to taking care of your feet, or is giving yourself a pedicure one of your favourite ways to relax and enjoy some me time? How has lockdown affected your foot care routine? Have you found you have more time to pay attention to them? Or less time while juggling the demands of work, home education and home life? Perhaps despite sandal season arriving you’re not paying attention to them because nobody except your children and other half sees your feet during lockdown?

Whatever your foot care tips and routines, share them with Scholl below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I don't really follow a routine. Just keep feet clean and nails short and tidy and they just look after themselves. Never had any issues.

A good pumice stone keeps my feet in check

Foot massages with my partner with lots of lotion.
One each a week keeps our feet feeling relaxed and the physical touch is good for our mental health.
And keeping up with general physical movement keeps the strong and moving.

Regular use of a foot file and lots of foot cream massages in with socks on to keep it from rubbing off. Every so often a nice soak in the washing up bucket!

It is all down to good fitting shoes. Somehow it took me over fifty years to realise my feet are really wide! No looking back now. Also the odd massage with peppermint foot cream is soothing.

I use your Velvet Smooth foot roller together with Scholl cracked heel cream - which I use couple of times a week possibly more in the summertime when I am wearing sandals! Seems to get my feet smooth and not dry - can't bear to see dry cracked heels!

I don't use any tools, but I do use plenty of body butter with old socks over the top and wear at night. My feet are lovely and soft by morning and I wash the socks afterwards.

I have a weekly manicure/pedicure evening. Use my foot bath to relax my feet and soften nails. \I have a Scholl gadget to remove hard skin and neaten cuticles, I use a footner mask, V effective, Slosh Scholl foot cream on and put socks on before bed. Don't paint my "summer toes" until next day so that all the moisturiser can soak in.

I just use moisturiser at bedtime with socks on. But I think I need something stronger as I'm getting older and I'm also too hot for socks at night now. Keen to pick up more tips!

I have bad memories as a child of poorly fitting shoes which hurt and uncut toenails which used to cut the toes on either side and bleed. Now I take very good care of my feet. They are always very clean with neatly trimmed nails and I wear well fitting shoes. I like to wear sandals in the warmer weather, but I will wear footbeds such as Birkenstocks or cushioned soles such as Fitflops, rather than very flat shoes with no protection or support. When I wear heels, I choose wide fit and would prioritise comfort over style. My DH likes my little square feet, so most nights, I sit with my feet in his lap and he either files them or rubs moisturiser into them.

I've always had wide feet so although sometimes it's been a slog trying to find well-fitting shoes I've never been tempted to squash them into ill-fitting ones.

I walk six miles plus a day with the dog, if I'm lucky my husband will give me a foot massage on an evening. I always trim my nails straight across and I like to wear a pink nail polish, but I don't spend ages on a proper pedicure.

Normally I wear sandals at this time of year. What I've found though is that our local dog-walking routes have been much, much busier since lockdown started. There's dozens more people on bikes as well as pedestrians, increasingly I'm having to move into long grass to keep a social distance. Because of this I'm reluctant to wear my sandals and have stuck with my trail shoes.

I don't have a routine but am starting to realise I need one. Don't know whether to blame pregnancy or getting old, but my feet have definitely deteriorated in the last few years.

I use a moisturising foot cream every day and use an egg shaped, cheese grater style file to remove skin hard, dry skin from my heels at least once a week.

WilmaJean · 10/06/2020 11:09

Use a foot file and apply a moisturising foot cream to help look after them. And wear well fitting shoes!

I can't stand the feeling of dry skin. The last few years I seem to have had cracked heels. This year seems worse as I have been inside a lot more walking round the house in no socks. I use the velvet foot smoother and lots of aveeno cream twice a day. I always have my toenails painted.

I get very dry feet as I have poor circulation.

I use a pumice stone several times a week. I also do a foot mask about once a month and try and use heel cream every night. I also wear slippers in the house

I love pampering my feet, I regularly use my Scholl Velvet Smooth Pedi, moisturise my feet twice a day and treat myself to a weekly splash of nail varnish.

I rub foot cream into my heels daily after a shower. I’ve noticed my skin has been very dry so recently started applying foot cream twice a day. I also give my feet a massage while applying it.

I do the moisturiser and socks trick overnight. But I do very little else. Not wearing shoes most of the time is very nice though!

Report
Asuwere · 10/06/2020 23:50

No routine as such but do keep them clean and nails short. Put foot cream on maybe once a week, if I remember.

I use a foot file. Now and again I'll try to remember to put some O'Keefe's on my feet and some socks.
They are nice in the morning but it doesn't seem to last.
I've had more time to take care of my feet since I'm working reduced hours.
