Celebrate your fellow Mumsnetters by nominating a Mumsnetter who deserves a treat

This activity is now closed

As some of you will know we had a lively discussion last week around our new quest (along with generous prize-donors Silent Pool Gin) to spread some joy by asking you to nominate the MNer who you think most deserves a treat this week (you can read the thread here if you, er, must).

We’ve made a few changes following your suggestions and we’ve cleared up a bit of confusion too (not least here at MNHQ) and we thought we’d start a spanking new nominations thread so that everything is nice and tidy. Fear not, all your nominations from the previous thread were included in the prize draw for last week or will still be included in this week’s draw.

So, to reiterate: to tie in with their new #FortheSpirited campaign, Silent Pool Gin is on a quest to unearth the UK’s most spirited characters – and the search starts right here. For two months, the award-winning distillers will be asking you to nominate the users who you think encapsulate the spirit of Mumsnet - whether that’s entertainment, wise advice, steadfastness, kindness or appallingly rude jokes. They'll be giving one bottle of gin per week to a winning Mumsnet user, and so following on from last week’s thread, we’d like you to continue nominating the users you think deserve a treat. In addition, if your nominee wins, you'll also receive a shopping voucher worth £30.

Here’s what Silent Pool Gin have to say:
“It represents our independent mindset and our uncompromising commitment to producing an exceptional gin with a refreshingly individual character, something we’re able to achieve through our unique four-stage distilling process - find out more about this here.

For the spirited is about following your own path. It’s about doing something kind, inspiring, creative, different. It could be finally handing in your notice, booking that round-the-world trip, starting that new Japanese course or even just deciding to make your very first post on AIBU.

Whatever your version of ‘spirited' is, we applaud you. However, applause only gets you so far, so to officially recognise the wonderful spirit of the Mumsnet community, we are launching the Silent Pool Gin For the Spirited award.
Also we’d love to hear your spirited stories so please tag us in at #forthespirited @silentpoolgin

Simply nominate a Mumsnet user for the #FortheSpirited award on the discussion thread and they'll be in with a chance of winning the prize of a bottle of gin (or a rather fab Silent Pool candle if they’d prefer something free of booze). In turn, if your nominee wins, you'll also receive a £30 voucher. Win, win (gin) Gin. We’ll be running the next prize draw on Monday, 29th July.

Thanks and good luck!

MNHQ

Terms and conditions of prize draw:
Activity specific T&Cs: Mumsnet will run a random prize draw once per week. The nominees within the winning entries will be contacted via email or PM to inform them of the win, and to ask if they would like to receive the prize. A non-alcoholic prize will also be available if desired. To receive an alcoholic prize, nominees will need to provide a copy of photographic ID to Mumsnet (eg a photograph of a passport or driving licence), as well as a physical name and address for the prize to be dispatched to. The name and address will be shared with Silent Pool Gin, with the user's permission. Mumsnet will dispose of this information within one week of users' receipt of the prize. Posters of the winning entries will be emailed by Mumsnet to inform them of the win, and to give them the opportunity to choose the voucher they would like. Their name and email address, with the user's permission, will be shared with Mumsnet's voucher fulfilment company for the purposes of ordering the voucher. Voucher winner's details will be retained for audit purposes. Winner's details will be used for the purpose of the prize draw and prize delivery only, and not for any other marketing purpose. Standard Mumsnet Insight T&Cs can be found here.

The four above were cheer up gifts/support given to others.

If we are doing Post of The Week I would like to nominate gin for
TalkToMeAboutSocialWorkPlease on the definition of High Tea thread.

Surely you can't eat cake EVERYDAY?

I'll give it a go and report back. I'm quietly confident.

I’d like to nominate @Datun for being so eloquent on women’s rights.

I like the way you have changed this promotion to include people who don’t drink alcohol. #ForTheSpirited @silentpoolgin

Just popping in here to confirm a couple of details: please note that you'll be able to make one nomination within each weekly prize draw. If you make more than one nomination within the week your first nomination only will be taken into account for the prize draw. We also wanted to confirm that though RageAgainstTheVendingMachine has entered differently, the £30 voucher is really supposed to be for the person nominating.

We hope everything's clear now but do let us know if there's anything you're unsure about.

I vote @kennehora because she is often sensible on threads where it's unfashionable to be so.

As a hard working teacher @noblegiraffe needs something to wind down with over the summer! The staff room wouldn’t be the same without her.

I would like to nominate @herculepoirot2

She is very steadfast and even when I disagree with her opinion I always enjoy reading her posts .

For some reason my tag thing doesn't seem to work.

I’m going to nominate ThorosOfMyr this week for being lovely enough to enable my child to have a penpal, and for being brave enough to give details of address etc. Hard to do in this day and age!! You’ve made dd’s summer holiday! :)

I still think this is a popularity poll of the sort that is usually banned.

So I shall not be making any nomination, despite the lure of the chance of £30

It's continues to be all about the 'Royalty' - 'tell us who the popular girls are and we'll have a lottery just of them'

What an amazing idea! Thank you MN and SilentPool Grin I was given a bottle of SilentPool gin for my birthday and can confirm it is very lovely!!

I would like to nominate @BigChocFrenzy for her amazing support for everyone on the 5:2 Weight loss threads. She is a brilliant source of information, wisdom and insight, generously sharing her experience, time and suggestions and encouraging all of us to achieve our goals. She is utterly inspirational, kind, generous, thoughtful and occasionally challenging, and I know I’m not the only one who has been hugely supported by her over the past months & years.
I appreciate that a weight loss forum might seem a bit niche, but for many of the pps, weight gain/loss and body image are hugely linked to other big events and challenges in our lives. BigChocs support in helping us to navigate these, and find some self-care and self-love (and friendship!) along the way, has been invaluable Flowers

I want to second what filly has said about bigchoc - perfectly put.

So as not to waste my vote though, RedToothBrush gets my nomination for her incisive leadership and wisdom on the Wesministenders threads (which probably see her more in need of good gin than most of us!).

Just a thought, but maybe prizes should be based on posting history - i.e. those who have contributed most to making MN the site it is today. Where would Mumsnet be otherwise?

If you want to make it contemporary rather than historical, you could even focus on 'most posts' this week, this month, this year...

Be random and live a little, HQ.

I shall nominate @AuntieStella for calling it out
