What should the first hotel on the moon look like? Share your children’s drawings

In celebration of the DoubleTree by Hilton Cookie becoming the first ever food item to be baked fresh in space, Hilton wants to see what your children think the first hotel on the moon should look like.

We’d like all budding artists aged between 5-11 to create their most imaginative drawings for a chance to win a trip for the whole family to the Royal Observatory, complete with an overnight stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Greenwich.

DoubleTree by Hilton says: “As the world’s first global hotel company, Hilton has pioneered hospitality for over 100 years. In fact, Barron Hilton, son of founder Conrad Hilton, first dreamt of taking Hilton to the moon back in 1958. Now, new technology has brought his dream closer to reality and Hilton wants to hear from the next generation about what they think the first hotel on the moon should look like.
The more creative, the better, with extra points awarded for inventive use of the DoubleTree Cookie within the picture!”

Once your children have created their masterpieces, please post a photograph to this thread, alongside their age and a short description of what the hotel on the moon will feature.

One winner will win a family trip to the Royal Observatory, complete with an overnight stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Greenwich. All who post their child’s drawing on the thread below will also be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

The first hotel on the moon should have a toughened glass ceiling, a gym with a trampoline with padded walls so you can jump from wall to wall. There should be moon buggies for hire to 'see the sights'. For entertainment a telescope to see the Earth, the countries and weather systems. Food would be a tricky one, but as long as there is prosecco, I would be happy.

Aw, my little girl isn't 5 till November, she'd have loved this. I'll get her to design a space hotel anyway just for fun.

The hotel on the moon would have to be sustainable to it would have a huge eco friendly greenhouse attached, with plants and vegetables to feed the guests, it would also produce oxygen and some water to be self sustaining. There would be a viewing gallery, to see the other planets, space stations and the Earth. There would be sleeping pods with a see through ceiling and an anti gravity gym to keep you fit.
I have done a stages of the moon with my son.

The hotel would have a ladder (magnetised of course) for the guests to climb up (exercise) and zorb down in space suits.
There would be a sleeping pod area, shower area, tennis court, sun bathing area, and area for jumping in zero gravity.
One room is set aside for contacting home - like on Big Brother, as you have no phone signal.

DD aged 6.

She said the first hotel on the moon should be shaped like a castle and have really cool themed rooms too (so earth room, moon room etc).
A garage to park the rocket in for when we want to get back home, a swimming pool because all good hotels have a swimming pool and a viewing area with telescopes.
Finally she wants a moon garden too.

These are great pictures and descriptions but I am dubious whether a child aged between 5 to 11 wrote all of them? Do many 11 year olds like Prosecco?

My six year old did hers. She asked the spelling on telescopes though 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wasn't allowed any input.
She thinks a castle is a great idea on the moon.

The rooms should be up to about chest-level deep in water so that rich tourists can see what it's like for the rest of us on Earth thanks to their rocket fuel shenanigans.

Well....The Tubes are teleportation tubes - only one person at a time, as if they get overloaded it will explode....the only food is Cheese as the Hotel is called Hotel Le Cheeze, as the moon apparently resembles this...
The money on the moon is now called Zoop-Burgers, and the only drinks you can have is liquid cheese. My daughter Rox had loads of fun doing this :-) x

This is my daughters idea, she loves the idea of a cookie shaped hotel, with tubes transporting you from area to area!

I hope it’s ok to do two but my son also wanted to have ago! He’s designed his around the Doubletree logo and thought it would be like a cool treehouse in space. Stairs cut into the trunk and a gravity machine allowing you to walk around. It’s so large it is visible from earth!

‘The moon hotel has oxygen delivered through the roof. The beds are in special pods. You can hire astronaut suits and moon buggies for excursions. There are special star gazing rooms in the roof. And the best bit is the lunar buffet with freeze-dried food.’

The entire hotel is inside a ‘bubble’; when you arrive a tube links your spaceship to the door so you can get in.
There is a powerful telescope on the roof, so people can go up to look out into space or back at the earth.
The most expensive rooms have balconies, but all rooms have large windows because you’d want to look outside a lot.
There is a zero gravity room padded with foam, so guests can try out being weightless but won’t hurt themselves. You get into the zero gravity room by swinging yourself in, through the room next door.
There is a slide and swing, because little kids need to be entertained too and they love parks.
The dining room serves space food - freeze dried or just space themed (for people who don’t like actual astronaut food).

This is Sydney-Rose's (age 7) moon hotel. You pay for the hotel with moon bucks, There is a heart at the top which absorbs sunshine to power the hotel. There is a swimming pool on the side of the hotel which is held up by a pillar. There is a big telescope on the roof to see Earth. There are 2 secret hot-tubs behind the hotel. There is a restaurant, bar snd party room on the 4th floor. There is a theatre/cinema in tbe basement. The top 3 rooms have balconies. There is a first aid area behind the clock.

This is Jorge's Lunar Hotel. There sre 44 rooms and a penthouse. Our satellite on the roof can send messages and signals yo Earth and 5 lightyears into space. Under tbe surface of the hotel and within the moon, is the engine room which gathers the moon's core power to run the hotel. There is an area that looks after rare animals that are neatly extinct on Earth. Not just holding up the hotel, the green pipes allow hotel guests to access the other facilities on the moon. There is a cafe, gym and main hall for celebrations. There is also a games floor and a fun floor with a swimming pool and disco.
