NOW CLOSED

With a school half term in our midst, you may be thinking about the ways you can keep your children occupied and active. Arla BIG Milk would like to hear about the Big Adventures you have planned or have been on this October half term.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk has to say: “We know how important it is to get your little explorers out in the world around them, so we’ve partnered with Magic Light to bring you yearlong BIG Adventures. From Gruffalo nature trail walks to BIG Adventures craft videos, there’s lots for you and your little one to get involved in. We’re also running an on pack monthly prize draw, available across UK grocery retailers, to give you the chance to win an amazing trip to Chessington World of Adventures. Arla Big Milk is simply fresh whole milk that’s enriched with essential nutrients so if you want to join in on the adventure, come visit our site to explore activities for your half term.”

What days out do you have planned for the half term? Do you have a trip to a theme or adventure park pencilled in? Perhaps you have plans to explore the great outdoors with your children? If you’ve already been on adventures this half term, what did you get up to?

Whatever your half term plans, post them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We've got autumn walks with treasure hunts, baking the christmas cake, a sponsored read-a-thon (on going) and I'll probably treat them to a local theme park too if their parents evening tonight goes well!

Biking into town for The Great Yorkshire Ghost search, a free, fun and nice Halloween event that isn't too scary. Plus it makes them trek all the way around the town to find each ghost, so great exercise too. Then hot chocolates back at home.

We have some lego building days planned, along with a craft project which the kids will decide what it is on the first day. We plan to take them swimming and on a woodland exploration! More yet to come.

I've got a mixture of teenagers and primary age children so we have pencilled in a range of different activities: Go-Ape, a trip to a theme park, mini golf, archery lessons, an escape room, a movie night, and a day in London visiting an exhibition (the eldest wants to, so the others will have to accept it with the lure of a visit somewhere 'interesting' Primark after). The eldest two will almost certainly want to meet up with friends too at some point. We don't have enough money to go away this half term, so the trick will be to try and have a range of nice things to do, plus time just resting/loafing around, without it breaking the bank. Thankfully I have the week off work so don't need to juggle childcare also.

We get 2 whole weeks and I am mostly flying by the seat of my pants and winging it. 5 DC between 5-16 who take turns at driving me crazy batshit. I've learned to not make plans too early, plan days out with an at home day in between and make the most of the nice weather days when the little ones can still go out to play and I can have a rest. We are doing a combination of farm park type places, visiting family and a cinema trip. V hard to try to do on a budget. Even the visiting family involves a lot of time in the car, which they don't enjoy and around £25 on fuel.

Some exciting plans here. My six year old will spend one day in holiday club, two half days with grandma and then it's all me as I'm a single parent. We live near a zoo and activity centre so that's two trips there (we have annual passes). My dd is getting a bike for her birthday so would love to teach her to ride.

If I can find a cheap deal might do a night or two away at the weekend.

We have a big family meet up planned. We have booked a large house in the middle of the country so siblings, nieces and nephews who live all over the country can get together. Can't wait! While we are there we will visit local woods and parks for picnics and walks (weather permitting!) and have party/buffet style teas together

We are going to do at least one fun out door activity a day, alongside swimming as a family, and some nice meals out, as our 4yr old is happier to try new foods when in a restaurant rather than in my cooking!

How to balance the wishes of a 15 year old and a 10 year old? One wants to sleep all day everyday, the other wants to rollerskate all day everyday. October half-term is often the last of the good weather so we have to do the garden jobs too. So, weekend of sleeping and recovering, then shopping trip to spend birthday money - this will get teen out of bed. Local climbing wall - and I may have a go too- and a lunch out. A trip to grandparents and the seaside. Films and games on wet days. Plant the bulbs for spring. A Halloween activity locally and seeing friends. Now I have listed it out I am quite looking forward to it!

I have two teenagers. Their plans are to fit in as many parties and 'gatherings' as is feasibly possible, with me acting as their chauffeur. This will be followed by never rising from bed before midday, eating all the food in the house, having very, very long showers, watching Netflix and doing not much else.
My plans are to go to work, as I do most of the other days of the year and feel grateful I no longer have to pay through the nose for half-term childcare! Grin

We'll take each day as it comes as it'll be weather dependant what we do but we'll have to do doggy walks each day and there will definitely be swimming at some point as they have it free with their lessons. Nothing messy as i cant be doing with messy play. Putting up halloween decs at some point.
