This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

We relax most when we’ve found a good series we both enjoy. Otherwise by the time the children are in bed and we’ve spent ages trying to decide what to watch half the evening has gone by! We loved binge watching Parks &Recreation recently, we were a bit lost when it was finished.
I catch up on work most evenings so a night “off” is rare and precious. I try and have something good to drink (sparkling apple; wine; or G&T) and usually get into my Pjs first!

First of all..☝️...shoes off and house shoes on!...the real comfortable ones that have the shape of your feet moulder in to them!...😌
Then upstairs and clothes off....PJs on!
Do your quick 5 mins each room job...then order the takeaway!...🤤
Children have a choice of what ever they would like too do, whilst waiting hit dinner to arrive.
Once dinner done....wash children(face/teeth/hair-brushed, PJs on)....
Then they return to what ever it is they have decided too do before it is bedtime.
Then me and DP will have a HUGE!...in fact!...MASSIVE debate about what is we are going to watch?!
9 times out of 10 I win...😁...and for me anything based on true life...
*crime
*World wars
*Nature/Wildlife
*Weather
*Mother Nature......etc
With lights off, phones on silent and most of all a glass of ice cold milk 🥛
That is the most perfect night for me!

After our toddler goes to sleep, we try to find something we both will enjoy. I'll play a few trailers on the laptop before choosing a film or sometimes we'll try a new series or put on an old favourite like Only Fools and Horses. We love finding something we can binge watch! If we are flush we'll get a takeaway or if not I'll knock up a pizza or pasta meal. Sometimes we'll just get a bit of junk food, crisps with a dip and big steaming mugs of tea, then we put our feet up and enjoy. In the hot weather we occasionally have our footspa out and filled with COLD water - heaven!

A night in - in summer time, sitting in the garden, eating outside and then reading outside would be perfect

with this hot weather there is nothing like a cold cold punch after the kids have gone to bed, feet up, window open, cold glass in hand, too hot for cuddling, but we can send each other smoldering glances

We love catching up on a series on TV with a few snacks. Currently working our way through series 3 of humans

We’ve just recently got our evenings back now that our little boy sleeps in his own room. Both hubby and I love watching documentaries, so when little one is in bed and dinner done we like to put our feet up and watch a documentary or depending on what is available a movie. The problem with movies is that by the time we’ve gone through the choices and made a decision half of the evening is already over...

Friday nights is bubble gum movie night, something that requires no brain power to watch. Saturday is new movie night, something we've not seen previously and sunday is syfi either film or tv series.

We only have time for an hour of telly at night during week so normally series link everything

We like an evening sitting in the garden, watching the birds, chatting and reading, or a family night around the telly or with a board game.

It has to be Saturday night, as there is swimming and double coronation street on Friday night! It usually consists of a giant share box of Maltesers a family friendly movie that my six year old agrees to. Then off we go, the baby gets bored and wonders about; so naturally I have to follow as our house is open plan. The eldest starts muttering or singing. So I think sitting and watching a movie is a way off yet! Grin

DC are teens so they don’t often go off to bed and leave us in peace, and the chances of finding a movie all four of us want to watch is practically nil unless it’s Star Wars.

But every now and then they’ll be out or asleep early and DH and I will order a curry (which the DC don’t like) and have half an hour to ourselves to watch University Challenge or Only Connect and join forces to defeat the teams. Bliss.

A home cooked meal then to the sofa to watch a film everyone likes

We watch a film most nights on weekends and holidays.
It’s such a brilliant way to just chill out.
My kids absolutely love it if we sit and watch it with them too.
Sometimes well watch the big blockbusters and sometimes, I’ll find things from years gone by and the kids always se to love it. Last week we watched the 1976 version of Freaky Friday and loved it.
We all just get comfortable on the sofa, sometimes we ll have snacks but not always.
If we do have snacks, it’s usually popcorn or some chocolate.

For me it is about actually pressing the OFF buttons on the phone ! It is not easy to do these days but in order to have a truly relaxing night in I think if you turn the phone off then you will not be distracted or disturbed.... some nice munchies that involve no washing up - a bottle of my favourite bubbly and a good film

A perfect night in would be our favourite takeaway ordered, picking a movie (or two), connecting the projector to the television and watching our favourite sky movie on a 7 foot screen you cannot beat the home cinema experience. good foodgood moviesfamily teammemories*bonding**

My perfect night in consists of an early bath and (weather permitting) dressing in my onesie. Then snuggling on the sofa with a meal cooked by my husband. Once we’ve both settled down there’s nothing better than catching up on tv we’ve missed during the week.....glass of wine in hand and dog snuggled at our feet.
