What do you add to your laundry? Find out what Mumsnet users told Fairy Non Bio

NOW CLOSED

Laundry can be a personal thing, and with many products you can add to your detergent to ensure your laundry is just how you like it, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about the things you choose to add to your wash - and why.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “What are you looking for to give a little extra 'oomph' in your washing - stain removal action? Softness boost? Colour care? anti-odour or allergy protection? If you could add one power you wish your detergent did for you without the extras what would it be”

Do you add fabric softener to all of your washes, or omit it when you’re washing towels or bedding? Perhaps you have a preferred method for adding stain removers? Maybe you use colour catchers so you don’t need to do separate washes? If you use fabric softener, do you follow pack recommendations for dosage or gleefully pour it in?

All who post on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I use a white wash brightener when i do a weekly white wash and then always try and get them out in the sun, even over winter.

I add fabric softener to all washes and measure out using the cap provided.

I add stain removal powder to my whites wash.

I add some soda crystals to every wash to soften the water and to make my washing softer and fresher.

Soda crystals, white vinegar, a liquid tab, and fabric softner: jobs a goodun!

I use a liquid tab and conditioner that's all.

I add napisan to white washes, softener (at half the dosage instruction) to all washes except sports clothes and towels, and a dash of zoflora to the dog bed fleeces

Same dosage of wash and softener for every single item going in. As per pack instructions. Only thing that ever gets washed differently is husbands work clothes - extra everything! Confused

I have become addicted to those scent boosters, such a mug but they smell so good! Stained items get soaked with vanish before washing then line dried and I use softener if I'm not using bold but the scent boosters are definitely my guilty pleasure

The superpower I wish my laundry detergent had is AntiBO. I'm clean, I wash, I launder, I wear fresh clothes, my clothes smell clean when I first put them on. But, as they warm up, the armpits start to reeEEEK. Same when I iron them: clean and fresh-smelling until the iron passes over the armpits. It is a humiliating and disgusting PAIN to smell of BO when you take such pains to be clean. I hate it. But nothing shifts or prevents it. (I tell a lie: not sweating in the first place prevents it. But the only way to do that is to put nasty chemicals on my skin, and they hurt.)

Halo sports wash works - but I'm allergic to it.

What wouldn't I give for a fragrance-free version of Halo!

I add a stain remover. 3 children in school uniform leads to all.manner of unspeakable stickiness and grime. Anything that cleans without adding extra stuff (read spending extra each wash) is a bonus.

I switch up the 'flavours' of fabric softener and tumble dryer sheets so we don't get too used to the smell and it always smells fresh to us!

I love fragrance booster pearls. Would be great if my liquid capsules had the same strong fragrance would save me £££

I sometimes add a stain remover but on the whole i am happy with just washing powder. I occasionally use softener but not often. The only thing I would like is a washing powder that left clothes not needing to be ironed Grin

I don't add anything - it wouldn't occur to me! Surely modern powders have everything in them already?

If I need to do any sort of stain remover I do a pre-treatment, or soak.

I don’t add anything. My son had eczema when he was little so I have always used non bio gentle washing powders and liquids. Very stained bibs and vests would be hung out in the sunshine to fade the stains.

Most of the time I only use washing powder and water softener - and I give everything an extra rinse because of sensitive skin in the family. If someone is ill then their washing gets Napisan added to it. If anything has a serious stain I pre-treat the stain with Vanish.

I use a white boost/stain remover to my white wash and fabric conditioner to all loads. I don't like too strong a smell so don't add the fragrance or other boosts

I always add fragrance beads - I like my laundry to smell really nice!

I don't add anything; I figure that's what the washing powder is for. :)

Report
ButterflyOfFreedom · 13/06/2018 19:45

Most of the time I don't add anything - literally just the dirty laundry & the washing liqui-tab!
Occasionally I'll use the Vanish spray on tough stains beforehand but never anything more than that.
