My DH I'd the head of decorating in our house, our tree is always real, we have both white and coloured lights. The theme on the tree is mainly red and silver but we also have some decorations from when the kids were small. Every piece of furniture apart from seating has tinsel on an on the main sideboard we have a Nativity scene, candles and other standing decorations. We only have a few things hanging from the ceiling as our son is six five .We really only decorate that room although we will have tinsel on the bannisters and outside lights

Real tree. Lots and lots of lights. Mixed decs, inc stuff the dc made when they were little. Although dc moan and say they want a “gold theme” or “red theme”...

Lots of candle light

Fake tree about to do its 14th Christmas. Mixed decs, some made by the kids and then every year they are allowed to pick one new decoration for the tree each so a real mix. In addition to that after my parents died my sister and I shared out her decorations so I have things from when I was little and things my mum made. I also have a snowflake garland I crocheted myself which I am very proud of!

My decorations are nutcracker themed so I have bought a load of wooden nutcrackers to go on my mantelpiece. i have made nutcracker stocking to hang from it, one is a ballet shoe, one is a drum and one is a soldier's boot. I am going to make giant sweets decorations to decorate the table.

Fake tree every year, for one reason and one reason only. Mess. However my fake tree seems to shed more rubbish on the floor than a real one, so lose - lose I guess. As for decorations, my son insist on doing it (9 yrs old) and makes it look like the leaning towe of Pisa, so I have to redo it at night, another lose lose. Happy Days

We always look to add a few new things each year, we've just got some new lights for the outside of the house that we're looking forward to putting up. All very tasteful of course.

I always start off wanting a tastefully decorated tree and matching decorations in the living room. But by the time the box comes out and I'm finding old and fun stuff all taste goes out the window and I'm swept up in Christmas tack fever Grin

We have a fake tree now, despite always saying I preferred a real one. That's all changed due to animals, children, the cost of a real tree and hatred of continually hoovering up needles! I think we will get some outside lights this year as DD would really like them.

real tree every year I mean part of the fun is hoovering up needles for 6 months ha ha

I'd love to be one of those easy going parents who look on adoringly as their DCs haphazardly decorate the tree. Sorry kids. Never. Going. To. Happen. I wait until they're at their dad's and spend hours making sure each bauble and fairy light is perfectly placed. Woe betide anyone who dares touch it. I'm not precious about many things, but my Christmas tree is sacrosanct.

My grand daughters always decorate our real tree (and I don’t change when they’ve gone home, unlike the other Grandma!) with silver, white and crystal. I have lots of white angel and dove ornaments and six very different Nativity scenes (one is a set of fridge magnets). We have lights on the banisters and two twinkling trees either side of the front door. All our lights are white.

real tree every time, with loads of warm white lights! Just love the classic look and can get quite anal about only having silver and gold decorations on it too!

We have a fake tree which we add scent sticks to to add the smell of a real tree, in terms of decorations the tree is anything goes, a real mix of colours and styles as that was what our tree was like growing up. We have a gold paddington bear ornament to add to it this year.

We have a fake tree, no co-ordinating decorations, some are new but most are from my own childhood inherited after my mum passed away. The tree is a sentimental mish mash of decorations.

I absolutely love Christmas and this year I am going all out as its my lg's first, she won't know as she'll only be 3 months old but that's not the point!
I hate real trees indoors as the needles get everywhere and I don't think my hoover would cope, so the 7ft Balmoral Artificial Christmas Tree would be ideal for me. When it comes to decorations they have to be perfectly placed, and if it glitters and sparkles like the silver diamonte snowflake tree decoration from Homebase I'm having it!

We are going for a Lego theme Christmas, with lots of the little festive Lego models dotted around, which we will add to daily from our Lego advent calendars.

DH sorts the outside light display, I do the indoors ... we have a fake tree, but I love it because it’s huge and bushy ... fairy lights, green red and white is our colour scheme, Stockings on the fire place.
My DH tries every year to put up foil ceiling decorations, but I have the kids making paper ones so he can’t Grin
