For many, Autumn often symbolises a time to be with family, wrapping up, staying indoors with a good movie and indulging in our favourite comfort foods. The healthy living habits from summer can often take a backseat and, as a result, these cooler months can often put our health goals and weight loss journeys on pause. With that being said, Weight Watchers want you to share any funny autumn and winter healthy living pitfalls or triumphs you have gone through.

Zoe Griffiths, Head of Programme and Public Health at Weight Watchers, adds: “For many, the shift in season will bring with it a change in outlook. It’s a time when we start to notice that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is becoming be more difficult. In fact, working with psychologist Professor Geoff Beattie, we have identified that 18th September is the date when the seasonal shift begins to impact Brits’ lives. But just because the seasons have changed, doesn’t mean your outlook has to too. You are very much still in control of your own healthy lifestyle!”

"Weight Watchers has a plan to help avoid those pesky pitfalls all autumn long! Introducing… The Weight Watchers Guide to Owning Autumn. The Guide will be updated each week throughout the season to help counteract the seasonal shift and make it easier for people to take control of their weight loss journey and overcome the lifestyle challenges posed during the cooler season."

Zoe continues: “At Weight Watchers, we believe that you can say ‘yes’ to the things that you love and still enjoy a healthy lifestyle – any time of the year! Winter is for being home eating toasted marshmallows and cinnamon milk. Not so good for weightwatching.

When it's dark in the mornings and in the evening, I'm much less motivated to go out and walk (my exercise of choice). The meals we eat are very carb and sugar heavy in the winter too. The lead up to Christmas almost feels like permission to over-indulge.

I love the autumn. There is nothing better than going out for a walk in the woods or on the beach on a cold clear sunny day, wrapped up in jumpers and scarves and then coming home for a hot cup of tea. I don't like walking in summer because it's too hot but bring on the autumn!

I've been getting ready for hibernation by eating nuts and seeds for breakfast every morning with some yogurt and fruit....usually breakfast is my worst meal, but i've been loving having this every morning!

Looking forward to autumn/winter comfort foods like chilly and stews!!! MMMMMMM.

Once the colder weather starts we start having porridge for breakfast - it makes me feel healthy but it is counteracted by all the hot chocolate I drink!

We tend to eat 'heavier' type meals in the autumn and winter - more casseroles and stews. But they don't have to be unhealthy you just need to be careful about how you cook them and what you chuck into the slow cooker!

I find adapting my side dish on a meal can make a difference so instead of chips have a really nice salad with lots of colours and ingredients to make it super tasty. I also have started using a splash of water for frying vegetables and chicken instead of oil or butter. Seems to work just the same.

when it gets colder, my DC do start asking for porridge again for breakfast - it always feels nice and healthy to have a pot of porridge on the go but then they add syrup and it doesn't seem quite so healthy. Same goes for the nice warm veg soup which seems great till we add LOTS of crusty bread (with butter of course!)
Everything in moderation though :)

I'm into a good routine of exercise and mindful eating but about to go back to work after mat leave...need to try very hard not to fall off the wagon!

I actually find autumn and winter generally easier as I love things like hot drinks and jacket potatoes. Now Christmas is a whole other issue....

For me Autumn mean something.....Half Marathon season!!!

It kicks off in September through the cooler months. So the over summer training now takes us into what we've trained for.....race season!!

Misty/sunny autumn mornings are made for running

The darker colder nights are months I used to associate with weight gain but I have managed to keep it off. I LOVE the slow cooker can leave first thing in the morning and come home to a healthy filling meal . Anything from a roast chicken , gammon to curry. Then can cosy up on sofa with candles on.
I would definitely recommend park run. Put some gloves on a hat and go walk jog run the park and feel fabulous even better the kiddies can go and be involved. Walking or in the pram .

Autumn is a time for comfort food. As the weather gets cooler you crave hot chocolate and marshmallows or jacket potatoes with lots of butter melted in. It's not an easy time for heathy eating.

I love autumn , following smartpoints is perfect to enjoy those gorgeous filling and comforting recipes which are family friendly and so easy to plan . Darker evenings with great tv calls for gorgeous low smart pointed treats whilst also enjoying a glass of wine . I am achieving success , 5 stone loss and never feeling deprived . Slow cookers , treats and a glass ready 👍❤️⭐️

It used to my standing joke - I put jumpers on in the Autumn and when they come off in the spring their was all this fat underneath them!! Since joining Weight Watchers It's a different story. I love wrapping up and going for walks in the crisp air and I eat lots of lovely stews,curries and warming soups. Plus the odd bowl of custard and pudding. I've lost 73lbs and it's not going back on under this Autumns jumpers 😀

Hmm I'd say I eat more in the colder months and justify it by saying I need he extra insulation (fat!!).
My pitfall is stodge!! Lots of carbs like bread (& butter), bagel (& butter), toast (&butter), crumpets (& butter)....
There is always chocolate in the house too as my (super skinny) DH is a chocolate fiend but I do my best to resist!!

Pumpkin soup!! It's one of my favourite things to make and so comforting on a dark autumn evening. Low cal, low fat, super healthy and very yummy, with a small piece of homemade garlic bread to dip in. Perfect!!

I get my carbs from green/purple leafy veg, swede, celeriac and berries, and swerve pasta, bread, potato, pastry, rice, couscous, bulgar wheat and quinoa.

Yes pumpkin soup is amazing. Also butternut squash soup which is 0sp . Soups can be amazing when add some food flavours . Spice them up with some chilli perfect 👌

With the pumpkin soup roast the pumpkins seeds in oven little salt they are so yummy!

I always want more stodge in the colder months. Casseroles, stews, crumbles, roasts with cauliflower cheese.

However I don't seem to snack so much in between meals as I do in the warmer seasons. Fewer ice-creams, pastries and pavlovas.

I like to have a few extra pounds on in the winter anyway, it keeps me warm.
