Whether it’s super healing, super strength, super speed or even the ability to manipulate the forces of the universe, there are certain moments in life when having superpowers would come in handy! With that being said Sky Cinema knows that the summer holidays is often a time when parents unleash their own superpowers and they want to hear all about the lengths you’ve gone to to keep your kids entertained so far this summer!

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “This summer, we have a new premiere every day, so you don’t need superpowers to find something great to watch. Premieres this August include Storks, Keeping up with The Joneses, Allied and the brilliant animation Kubo and the Two Strings. We've also got some great superhero movies, such as Marvel's Doctor Strange, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, and Deadpool."

Have you put your multi-tasking skills into full force and been cooking or baking with the kids? Maybe you organised a family sports day in the park, and prepared everyone’s favourite snacks without needing a reminder of what their favourites were? Perhaps you’re able to turn a day out around when you’re unexpectedly graced with some rainy British weather? Or maybe you’ve found a way to magically entertain your children without putting in any effort!

So, inspired by Sky Cinema’s range of superhero movies, comment with the superpowers you have exhibited this summer and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Super-restraint at not flouncing off and doing a Shirley Valentine after a summer at home with my 5 DC (particularly my 2 fucking teenage DD's). Big false smile 🙂

I have managed to keep alive an orchid given to me. I know, it's a small thing, but I am like a Plant Deatheater...

I have managed to have my ds's friends over for a day. You need superpowers when you have 11 boys aged between 2-7 in your house all day!

My superpower, training my water obsessed two year old to move the chair to the sink, climb up and fill his own damn watering can! Magically stoped the 5 million requests for more water I get during an afternoon in the garden

My super power involved doing a long drive that I wouldn't normally do. I put my anxiety to one side as much as I could, planned a route that was doable for me, and did it!

My other super power involves planning 6 weeks with military precision, in order to work enough to keep my clients happy, and to have time off with my daughter too.

Handled almost 6 weeks entirely on my own, heavily pregnant with 2 DDs... even managed some days out and fun days at home! Exhausted.

My superpower must be X ray vision - how else could I sneak up knowing that the temptation of the new book is too great after bedtime!

Super patient counting while watching my daughter in the pool and counting (over and over and over) how many seconds she can do an underwater handstand for while her brother was in his swimming lesson. Had a book with me, couldn't read it.

The other night, I was falling asleep and suddenly thought that my baby was not ok. All was quiet. The house was silent; both kids asleep. But Mummy instinct is strong. So I got up and tiptoed into my baby's room, and she had managed to unbutton her sleeping bag at the shoulders, and was lying in just her vest, and her room was so cold! She was lying on her front with her legs tucked up and lying on her arms... I picked her up and she snuggled into me, and I cuddled her, put her into a fresh warm sleeping bag (with no poppers) and then put her into her cot. Mummy instinct. Superpower.

Dd1 (5) had chicken pox, now followed by slapped cheek syndrome. DS (3) has now caught chicken pox. Baby dd2 has a virus that could be the beginning of either chicken pox or slapped cheek. We've left the house a handful of times since the holidays began!

I wish I was a super healer but I'm actually a super comforter

My superpower was quite unexpected to anyone who has ever met me. I can usually manage to produce a something resembling cheese on toast when it comes to cooking, but last week my niece requested a Captain Underpants birthday cake the day before her party. And I managed to rustle one up! I should be held aloft on the shoulders of my family.

Managed to build an amazing sandcastle with my 7 year old whilst wearing him out by having him run around all over the beach to collect pebbles to decorate the moat ensuring a good night's sleep!

I have been a superparent by reminding my 7 year old of the upcoming local grow, make and bake show. We have been sewing a pomander, decorating pebbles, practising baking scones, biscuits and buns and fitting this in around going for cycle rides through the woods and the summer reading challenge and activities at the library.

I have been a super puddle jumper with my toddler. We have spent so many mornings getting in our waterproofs and wellies and finding massive puddles.

We met up with the other school mums and their kids and went to soft play the other day, so the kids could all catch up and the mums could pretend their kids was someone else's problem for an hour. They played nicely, and far away from us, which was great, and what a relief that no kids came running with "SO and SO just punched me".

So far, so good.

At lunch, it was rather crowded but i was watching my son closely, as he was rather excitable and I could see he wanted attention from his friends. He picked a sausage from his plate with his fingers and as he pushed it towards his mouth, he shouted "IT LOOKS LIKE I'M EATING A GIANT W..."

Fearing (knowing) he was about to tell everyone he was eating a giant willy, my superhero power kicked in. The Glare. I gave him the glare, and without a moments notice, he lowered the sausage from his mouth and finished his loud sentence with "delicious sausage".

Crisis over. Thank goodness it was not my child who lowered the tone on that day (thanks Herbie for peeing in the ball pit, good move kid). And thank goodness for The Glare.

My superpower is peacekeeping. I could put the UN to shame so far this holiday.
My 2 DS's love and loathe each other in equal measure, and we have been confined more than we would have chosen to be, thanks to the Great British Summer Washout. If the last few weeks are anything to go by, my peacekeeping skills are truly wasted on two small boys...I could settle decades old international turmoil Wink
