Taking your child to a farm, or the countryside, can be a great way to create the kind of moment of joy that really stays with you. It’s often a brilliant opportunity to educate your child and connect with nature at the same time. Cadbury would like to hear about the funny observations you remember your child making when they first visited a farm or the countryside.

Did they theatrically complain about the smell? Maybe they got confused over animal names, or perhaps embraced the noise and start mooing or oinking? Maybe they started making jokes about the “udderly great time” they were having? Could they get their heads around the fact that eggs or milk come from a farm?

Whatever the funny things your children have said whilst visiting a farm or the countryside, share them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

We took our two children to Beamish open air museum in County Durham on the way back from a weekend wedding, about ten years ago. At the time, my son was 5 and my daughter was 9. While we were sat waiting to tour an old mine, the tour guide, noticing our Yorkshire accents, asked where we were from. Before we could answer, our son piped up, "home".

When our DS was little we took him to a fairly posh country house. Whilst he wandered around shouting "cock" we followed behind correcting him to "peacock" Blush

Taking DS1 to a little petting farm and we went to feed the calves.
"Mummy" he said stroking the head of an adorable little baby cow "these will be made into tasty burgers soon, won't they?"
Had to make a swift exit after that!

When DD was very small, we would visit a local farm often. We'd point out the animals to her and say;
"What's that animal?"
"A cow!"
"What does a cow say?"
"Moo moo"

This was fine until we came across chickens.
"What's that animal?"
"Chickens"
"What does a chicken say?"
"Fck fck fck fck"

We were so shocked and trying not to giggle, DD was delighted with herself and was shouting at the top of her lungs.

'No, sorry son. They're shit these days.'

My baby loved the cows! To the point where she attempted to climb under the gate to climb into the pen! She was determined to touch their noses!
My older daughter loved too, but she attempted to jump in the 'muddy puddles'.. I firmly stopped that! Did not fancy cow poo all over them both!!!

Whist visiting a farm with a friend and her kids, we were at the bit with the donkeys and lamas were. suddenly a donkey started galloping towards another donkey braying at the top of it lungs. It soon mounted it and started having sexual relations. We quickly ushered the kids away but the obvious question came, "why did that donkey jump on the other donkey's back?" To which one of the kids replied, " to get a better view of its ass".laughter ensued

Yes some people do actually live in the countryside and on farms and 'the countryside' isn't just a big grassy theme park merely to be visited. Perhaps cadburys could also run a parallel thread asking what our country bumpkin children first observed when visiting an urban area. The sights smells and sounds of the city Grin

DS was young, maybe four and we went for a lot of country walks around that time. One afternoon as we passed a field of cows he shouted "look mum, the cows have lots of chocolate pancakes to eat!" He was talking about the cow pats Grin

I took a class of 10 year old inner London kids to a farm in Kent. They'd never been anywhere like it. One of my toughest and best boys came running up to me after about 10 minutes shouting 'miss miss there's a unicorn!!!' It was a goat 😊

My daughter kindly pointed out that the cow has big boobies just like me. I was pretty mortified to be honest and there was a lovely echo of giggles from the crowd

When DD2 was about 4 we were at a city farm and were really lucky to see a sheep giving birth to twin lambs. She was mesmerised.

On the way home I asked her what her favourite part of the day was (expecting to hear about the lambs being born) and she said 'when the horse did a massive poo'.

I pointed out a deer as we were driving, DD said "oh, 1 is dead!". I tried to reassure there wasn't a dead one, she said that there were 2 there the week before but only 1 now so the other must be dead! Obvious explanation :)
