Lidl know that some of us prefer spending Valentine’s Day at home to venturing out into packed restaurants with hearts everywhere during a freezing February. Lidl have everything in store for the perfect night in, offering all you need for a French-themed dinner to gifts and bottles of bubbly - and they would love to hear how would you spend your dream V-day at home.

What’s the perfect romantic meal for two? Do you prefer classic red roses or truffle chocolates? What’s your ideal tipple for the night? Do you open gifts while listening to romantic music or is a night on the sofa with a movie more your thing?

Valentine's Day at home would need nice food- a decent rare steak, something chocolatey and some fizz, candles, a good film and the internet being switched off.

Peace and quiet with the children off to bed early and asleep with no fuss! Nice one pot easy meal made earlier in the day and a couple of glasses of good red wine and a good movie is my idea of bliss.

We'd need a sitter. Then candles soft music and for to just be together. Maybe a movie with a blanket and tea. Lol... Tea is our tipple!

A nice evening on the sofa together, olives/charcuterie/naice crisps to start, steak and all the trimmings, then chocolate souffle. Relaxed and chilled

A simple meal is the key - no fuss. Good fresh pasta, some smoked salmon, peas and creme fraiche. All served in mismatching china, wine in similar glasses - bought for next to nothing from charity shops. Followed by equally easy Eton Mess!

Definitely a simple mean that's easy to prepare and clean up after! Steak sounds good with a easy desert after and a bottle of wine. Bliss!

A beautiful bottle of fizz, just some candles dotted around the living room & a luxurious chocolate desert.
The meal would just be simple so we wouldn't have to waste time cleaning up!

A nice red wine for DH. Luxe hot Choc with marshmallows for me (preggo!), an easy stick in the oven meal, film, snuggled on the sofa, phones off.

It is just another day to my husband ( sigh!) but I like to cook him a really nice dinner - I will buy some Rib Eye steaks ( and splash out on the single packs!!) with jacket potatoes and salad - followed by a sorbet - we are both trying to lose weight ;) If I won the vouchers I would also buy some flowers for myself - because I am blooming worth it ! :D

Valentine's Day at home would be lovely if we wasn't both dieting! Ideally we would have a jug (or 2) of Woowoo cocktail for the evening. We would have baked Camembert with crusty bread for a starter, followed by a steak cooked on the BBQ and finished off with suet pudding and custard! (all things that we are craving at the moment). We do not tend to exchange gifts but a tray of Hotel Chocolat chocs wouldn't be turned down!

Juicy steak, big fat chips, onion rings and something involving chocolate for dessert! DH is away this year but I may have our customary celebratory meal anyway. And flowers but not overpriced tacky red roses. Daffodils will do nicely.

I would just like an evening where I don't have to cook, anything is fine, steak and chips washed down with a bottle of champagne would be lovely.

I feel Valentines is for kids really not people who have been together for years.

Downstairs, that made me laugh. Took me a while to figure out what the V stood for too, not for me, Why does this have to happen on one day? I prefer the small things every day rather than big gestures.

I would love to have a candle lit dinner and Thorntons chocolates to go with it and a movie while my three little ones sleep.
As having arthritis in lower back and leg and foot going out for a meal has been impossible with my pain and kids.

We've been together 8 years but this is only our second Valentine's Day spent together due to his job.
We're going to have 'surf and turf' with garlic mushrooms and chunky chips!
Something gooey and chocolatey for pudding, washed down with a bottle of Prosecco for me and a beer for DH.
I'd love to have flowers, but dh doesn't really buy in to Valentine's Day.

I'd like DH to put the toddler to bed whilst I enjoyed a candlelit bath with a glass of champagne.

I'd like a pie for dinner. Not particularly romantic but I do love pie followed by lemon mousse.

Snuggle under a blanket in front of the fire watching a rom-com.

There could be a bunch of flowers for me thrown in the mix too!

For me, it's the fire lit, a takeaway pizza, good chocolate, decent gin and a good film. Just me and my cats as there is no significant other at the moment.

Daughter at mums for the night, pizza, beer and films in bed for me & the fiancè ❤

Children sleeping soundly or packed off to grandparents. Posh olives and a cocktail followed by steak, chips and salad, with red wine. Gelato to follow, or coffee with biscotti.

In reality of course it'll be a supermarket pizza in front of the telly, but it's nice to dream

We don't actually do gifts, or cards, but instead use the money to cook a decent steak and chips dinner at home! My husband cooks a delicious steak and we only ever get to have it on Valentines Day! We always get a posh pudding too, something really indulgent and chocolatey. Neither of us drink alcohol, so something non alcoholic but fizzy usually does the job.
Hopefully the kids will go to bed on time, and we can eat our dinner and watch waaaaay too much Netflix! Perfect

A day when we could focus on each other. Not worry about meals, taxi, homework, housework etc. Just enjoy some time together. I don't care about the food, because we'd just prepare whatever we had, together. (Not worry about the fussy eaters!) Maybe have a bath together, taking our time.

My last valentines was 12 years ago because 11 years ago I gave birth to my very overdue (15 days late) DS2.

So our valentines is a big family affair. It's a lovely excuse to get my parents, sister her husband and their children all together and have a big family meal at home - vaguely romance themed, due to what's looking interesting in the shops always finishing with a big slab of birthday cake - lovingly made and decorated, flavoursome and enjoyed but never quite as good as the one that it's been modeled off that didn't look too hard on pinterest.

Drinks the older children are all just getting into fizz (non-alcoholic) so we usually get a few bottles of something that looks nice and a selection of fruit juices (my eldest is a lover of Ace drink which I think is vaguely carrot based). Adults are going through a fizz phase too and we stocked up on Prosecco when it was on offer recently so that'll be the starting tipple. The older generation tend to finish with a small glass of whisky.

We do celebrate St Dwynwens day (25th Jan), with a nice meal for two, as DH is Welsh.
