It’s 2016, and many of us have pledged to kick old habits or try something new. Clairol nice ‘n easy wants to know how Mumsnetters are getting on with sticking to their New Year’s resolutions.

Here’s what they say: “We’re all too familiar with the frustrations of being stuck on style repeat – whether it’s due to being busy at work, having a hectic social life or being scared of change. But little changes can make a big difference; whether that’s a new lipstick, a new accessory or a different hair shade. With nice’n easy’s wide palette of shades, there’s a shade for every woman who wants to refresh her look. Each shade delivers up to 100% grey coverage, plus natural tones and highlights, thanks to Clairol’s exclusive ColourBlend Technology. What better time to go for a change than a new year? That’s exactly the time we chose to change our models on pack. What changes did you plan for this year?”

How are your New Year’s resolutions going so far and plans? Perhaps you’re working off those Christmas mince pies by hitting the gym? Or are you trying to broaden your horizons by reading more books? Maybe you’re taking the “new year, new you” idea a little more literally, by colouring your hair or changing your wardrobe?

However you’re getting on with your resolutions, nice ‘n easy would love to hear about it.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

I decided I wanted to cut down on my spending this year and resolved to buy no new clothes. I've been tempted a few times looking at online sales but managed to resist so far!

No spending on make up and toiletries hasn't done quite so well, I got drawn into a few sales and things ended up in my basket blush.

I was going to walk min 10,000 steps every day, which would then increase.
Erm, I haven't.

StickChildNumberTwo Mon 18-Jan-16 19:00:15

I'm trying to get out walking more to justify eating cake while on mat leave! I'm making progress but could do better.

I decided that my resolution was to remain unresolved. That's going splendidly so far.

mattymc13 Tue 19-Jan-16 03:19:03

Very well. And by "very well" I mean I have failed miserably already.

pockledigg Tue 19-Jan-16 04:50:18

I was supposed to stop drinking alcohol altogether. This has 'relaxed' somewhat into just drinking on a Friday & Saturday, which I've stuck to. I'm finding that because I'm drinking less I can't tolerate it so well and when I do drink it's making me feel quite unwell, so I'm drinking less each weekend. So in a roundabout way I'm getting there!

Fine - I've managed to write "2016" every time so far ...

delboy3 Tue 19-Jan-16 05:50:47

All broken!

steviestarship Tue 19-Jan-16 05:58:20

My resolution was to get up and walk the 10 minutes to the supermarket instead of jumping in the car and so far, it's going quite well. Apart from the days it's chucking it down, I've managed every time (except for when it's a big shop).
Surprise myself sometimes!

inspiron42 Tue 19-Jan-16 05:58:42

Easy, as I don't make any new years resolutions

FawcettSA Tue 19-Jan-16 06:00:16

I was going to improve my already healthy eating in order to shift half a stone for Valentines day.......I did better at Christmas time than I've done this last few days - I blame the cold weather!

ThemisA Tue 19-Jan-16 06:00:51

I promised myself that I would not impulse buy and so far I have managed luckily I didn't promise to give up chocolate!

jomulan Tue 19-Jan-16 06:29:13

I wanted to reduce the amount we spend on groceries and cook from scratch more. So far so good. It's amazing just how much money you can spend on the weekly shop when you're not thinking about it.

mave Tue 19-Jan-16 06:38:46

Not too bad, trying to go running at least 3 times a week so I can enter a half marathon this year at some point!

deanhead Tue 19-Jan-16 06:43:18

i am trying to lose weight. going well apart from a blip at the weekend but back on it. i am determined so will succeed but may not be a quick fix but in it for the long haul this time

janeyf1 Tue 19-Jan-16 06:57:46

I only made one new year's resolution and I haven't broken it so far - which is to get more sleep

WarmHugs Tue 19-Jan-16 07:05:30

Not great. The plan was, as usual, to start another diet. But then I wasn't well, and we had family visiting, and it's just not that easy. I will start soon though!

sarahinclover Tue 19-Jan-16 07:14:39

Well, I'm still going to yoga and pilates..........(o:

amyhalliday1 Tue 19-Jan-16 07:27:01

Mine have gone already! 5 portions a day of fruit & veg eek

MuttonDressedAsMutton Tue 19-Jan-16 07:29:50

Pretty good! Resolved to radically reduce my sugar intake - done. Resolved to walk for half an hour every day - almost done (I can't bear the driving rain!) and resolved to make a start on organising the house - ummm, having a bit of trouble even starting this one never mind keeping it up!

maryandbuzz1 Tue 19-Jan-16 07:32:08

Mine was to get a new job. Although I haven't got one yetbI have a couple of applications in!

glenka Tue 19-Jan-16 07:37:39

I didn't make any this year because i can never usually stick to them.

zappyzippy Tue 19-Jan-16 07:38:00

I drink a lot of tea and I have cut down on the sugar from 2 teaspoons to one and it's still going well. Strangely enough I can hardly tell any difference in the sweetness and I do wonder about myself piling in all that extra sugar over the years. ..... So, happiness is ... less sugar. smile

flozza42 Tue 19-Jan-16 07:39:02

Mine was to lose two stone and I have lost five pounds already on slimming world which I am finding suits me
