MNHQ here - wanting to know: which TV Christmas ads can you remember?

Hello all

Apologies for the Christmas-related question but we're doing a bit of work on TV Christmas ads (for stores, brands or products) and we want to come up with a good wide-ranging list of all the Christmas ads we can collectively remember.

It would be great if you could post here to list any that occur to you - from recent years or from further back. If you can add the name of the product/shop/brand and any identifying details or YouTube links that would be great.

John Lewis' Monty advert, M&S' fairy advert last year, Sainsbury's WW2-themed advert, John Lewis' the bear & the hare, there was a good Snowman advert which I think was Iron Bru? The Coca Cola advert every year, with "Holidays are coming"...

That Toys R Us advert with the "It's a magical place and we're on our way there..." song.

I think that's all I can remember, off the top of my head.

i don't remember specifics, but Littlewoods always used to do a big fanfare-ish one

recent years, I loved the JL Snowman one. And the one with the over excited wee boy and his parcel for his parents. The bear ad rabbit one was shite.

AND I used to laugh at the Asda one (or maybe Iceland?) where they were all sitting around the table, with the dinner all laid out and every last chair in the house in use, kitchen stools, garden chairs, computer chairs. HAH!

That god awful Asda advert from last year (or was it the year before?)

The one where the wife does absolutely everything in a martyr style...even sitting on a tiny stool so she couldn't reach the table properly at dinner.

Then she simpers at her husband just because he's playing with the kids, as he asks her "What's for tea love?"

I think I remember it for all the wrong reasons

I have to say though, seeing the Coca Cola advert means it's Christmas in this house!

worra That Asda advert gave me rage!

Last year the Sainsbury's one was by far the best!
Coca Cola is always endearing.
There was a Boots one last year, I think, which involved all the women sorting Christmas out. They were striding through the street, wrapping presents with one hand and holding a baby with the other and stuff. I guess it was similar to the horrible Asda one, but a bit more... badass.

The oxo one!! And also Iceland ones, Jon Lewis with the Hare and the Bear, last year's penguin one. Park Hampers ones always seem to come on over Christmas, Littlewoods catalogue one with Myleene Klass as Santa's helper.

Linda Bellingham. Was it for Bisto? It was a nice family Christmas scene.

I can't remember the advert but I do know everyone, everywhere, ever wanted a Mr Frosty machine for Christmas, the advert must have been great!

I can remember a few when I hear a tune playing that was used. But it has to be a tune I don't often hear. John Lewis / M&S seem to have a knack for picking such tunes (pleasant but not great ). Tesco seemed to try that (last year?) but too many tunes / classics so less effective.

De Beers diamonds advert, on every year when I was little, is what I'd love to see on TV again. I think I'd explode with nostalgic excitement if I could see it again .

Also the Famous Grouse ones take me back, and Alka Seltzer.

The lidl surprises Christmas dinner one where they all ate dinner and then were surprised at the cost. Endless Iceland ads- wasn't Jason Donovan on one? Along with various lots of frozen party food. M&S magic and sparkle. Famous Grouse. And AntnDec being cheery in Morrisons to Take That.

I remember the recent John Lewis ones - the snowman travelling, the bear and gate and of course Monty

M&s fairies (was that last year) but generally remember their laviousness.

I hated the Sainsbury's one. But I remember it, so maybe job done?

Not sure I have many to add that haven't already been mentioned. "And mummy made the gravy" (Oxo) is my favourite nostalgic Christmas ad. I do remember one from recently where people were getting their relatives crap presents so they could splurge on themselves - think it was Harvey Nics, or somewhere like that. "Sorry, I spent it on myself" was the tagline I think.

The Cadbury ones where they wrap the street.
Very catalogue with mylene in - but only because I liked the tune and kept humming it :)
John lewis ones obviously last years penguin one that Toddler DD was obsessed with and the previous year with the boy giving a present

The awful Asda one gave me the rage too. What were they thinking?!?!

Coca cola ads are always a favourite and Famous Grouse. Loved John Lewis Monty and Mabel too.

The one I always remember is Hellman's with the 12 days of Xmas tune. DH and I sing it to each other .

The Tesco 'Forever Young' one with the home movie footage.

I usually like the M&S one. The John Lewis ones can seem a bit forced.

There was one from last year (I think?) where a nurse is coming off a shift on Boxing Day morning and her family have got up early to re-do Christmas for her? That's kind of sweet. Can't remember what it's for, though

Oh, and a McDonalds one from a few years back that just shows an empty restaurant, can't remember the music but it's nice.

I loved the John Lewis one where they made a silhouette of a woman walking a dog out of gifts. At least in part because of the gorgeous Prokofiev music, I have to say.

I don't know what it was for, but there was a teenage boy glued to his phone and not joining in/ helping out but at the end he had made a film of his families Christmas for them all too watch, that was nice!

Surely all the adverts on at Christmas are about the sofa sales beginning on boxing day?
