Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming movie Pan, releasing in Cinemas on October 16th.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan. We'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here:

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters? What about your DCs? Would you see it in 3D? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your DCs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

we've seen trailers for this the last few times we've been to the cinema and myself and the DC really like the look of it. Looks like it's a good mix of action and laughter. I like it being a prequel rather than just another remake of a traditional story.
Not a huge fan of 3d so would only see in 2D. To be honest, not likely to go to see it when it's released as I tend to wait till things are on at the cheaper kids showings! It does look good though and it is definitely on my list to see :)

It looks good. Looks like it's been made for 3D - that giant crocodile rising up, the sword fight etc - so yes, would find not watching it in 3D frustrating (I do hate it when you watch a film and there are segments/events you can just tell were put in solely for the 3D potential).

The Peter actor seemed good, and I liked the flying ships. I liked the concept - the preamble to the traditional story. The problem is that there will never be a Peter Pan film as good as Hook was - it's a hard act to follow. And there will never be a baddy pirate character as great as Dustin Hoffman was.

It looks epic! I think my eldest is still too young for a movie like this, he's 4, but he thought the movie looked like an adventure.

Dc 13/12/10/8 years liked the look of this...enough action for those who like that and enough story to keep everyone entertained.

2 of my Dcs and also I find 3D makes us nauseous so we always go to 2D showings though I can see the special scenes where 3D would be exciting.

nice clear audio and narration. Nice ideas all round.
Yes we will go and see it.

One to watch on the big screen, visuals look amazing - a cross between Harry Potter and Indiana Jones. Not for the wee ones though, I will definitely go and see it with my 7 and 11 year olds. I like the fact it explains Peter Pan's previous life, something which has not been done before.

It looks quite dark, so not sure my 7 year old would like it (he's not a great fan of cinema anyway). If he was a couple of years older he may like it. It's probably something I would take a slightly older child to.

The special effects look pretty good, hope the storyline is good too.

I wouldn't want to see it in 3D purely because I have a lazy eye and can't see 3D, but it looks like it could be great for those who don't have silly eyeballs!!

Looks pretty dark. you can see its from the people who made some of the harry potters. Possibly for 7 or 8 years up. As long as the effects etc are supported by a great story line. So far I've found the 3d thing a bit over rated so would probably stick to 2D.

I thought it looks quite spooky/scary for little ones.y son seemed keen thought. It's good it's taking a traditional story and turning it on its head. The special effects are good. Be interesting to see it in 3d.

I love a good 3D movie, especially on an Imax screen. The special effects look great and I'm sure it would look good in 3D. It looks like one of those films that would appeal to adults as well as children and there's a good cast, so it's on my list of films to keep an eye out for.

Cinema's too expensive & my DC too young at the moment but I might get the DVD when it's out. It does look good... Even if it's not Hook... Wink

I like the fact it's an original story, not just another remake. Hugh Jackman's hair is quite something! Will be interested to see him as a villain as it's not his usual thing and I usually fancy the pants off him!Blush Wasn't really that clear who the other characters are meant to be, but I suppose you don't have time for that in a trailer. My favourite bits were Peter apparently starting to fly, and the ship turning upside down at the end.

Wouldn't see it in 3D as I'm tight fisted, and also I haven't really ever seen a film that was significantly better just because it was in 3D. My DD is too young to see it, but I think 7 year olds and upwards would probably enjoy it.

I think it would be too scary for DD (3), also the plot would be too complex to hold her attention. Maybe in a few years! I'm not a huge fan of 3D but do think it would work well, looks like lots of the action has been designed for 3D rather than 3D being added as an afterthought.
Not too keen on the 'this is how it all began' idea - sometimes it's ok for things to just be how they are!

Looks ace! DD is only 5 so maybe a bit too young but she thought it looked really exciting, was scared of the crocodile and is very keen to see more. I'd also love to see it and urm, may end up going with DH. 3D would be amazing to really make it thrilling.

Looks like it's designed for 3D, rather than an afterthought as is so often the case.

Seems it would be good for older children and adults but too dark for the age-range that are typically engage with Peter Pan (whereas Hook catered to that core demographic while still appealing to older siblings and adults.)

Actually a good idea to have a Peter Pan origin story but it is sometimes a shame that so much emphasis is on franchises when a similar style film could have been made with new characters.

The trailer was engaging but parts were repetitive - the same establishing shots re-used multiple times - it could have been more tightly edited to be punchier.

Not sure i would go and watch it with my daughter as it seems for the older kids, even though she loves everything to do with peter pan and fairies.

It looks really good. I don't often bother with 3D, it's not always worth the extra, but this looks like it would be worth it.

I'd probably take my older two but not the twins (6). It is out in time for half term so will be a good treat forme them.

This looks amazing. Not every film suits 3D but I can tell lot's of scenes will look great. The story looks decent too as I can't stand films which are all special effects and no storyline. It is very colourful and I would take my 10 year old to see it.

It looks too much like a fantasy/dark film for me! I dont think they will ever do a remake thats better than Hook, thats the best Peter Pan film x

The thing I have to say is "WOW". I watch the trailer all the way through and felt that special effects were outstanding. Did you see the size of the crocodile- it was the size of two double decker buses. I like the idea of taking the story right back to the beginning. This is a film that will grab the attention of adults as well as children. I want to see this film as it is "off the hook".

Great 3D family entertainment, brilliant special effects, wonderful storyline with a natural progression! Made in the same studios as Harry Potter which can't be bad. I am definitely interested in this film from the trailer and think many others will be too!

Big Box Office appeal - perfect for a Cinema visit, but would not capture the attention so much on TV

Looks fab - perfect for my children aged 9 and 10, and being boys something that will appeal to them. The costumes and boats look amazing - can't wait to see it as a family
