After the success of Breaking Bad, Watch With Mumsnet is back with Better Call Saul, a brand new Original series from Netflix.

In this dark comedic prequel to the Emmy-winning Breaking Bad, we meet ambitious small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill six years before he becomes Walter White’s morally challenged attorney, Saul Goodman. We follow as Jimmy (played by Bob Odenkirk) transforms from an optimistic underdog struggling to make ends meet into the notorious legal legend who puts the criminal in 'criminal lawyer'.

With one episode being released on Netflix each week we’d like you to visit the thread at different points throughout the season and let us know your thoughts on what’s going on. We’ll be updating the thread with new topics of discussion surrounding each week’s episode. Episodes will be release every Tuesday only on Netflix. Everyone who joins the discussion will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a Toshiba 40” Full HD Freeview HD Smart LED TV* and 6 month Netflix subscription, a further 5 Mumsnetters will win a Better Call Saul goodybag.

Note on spoilers: We want to hear your thoughts on everything, from plot twists to season finales and more - but if you’re talking anything that could reveal important plot details then please put Spoiler at the beginning of your post to warn others who may not have seen it.

Happy watching,
MNHQ

Just finished the first episode.

It was slow to grasp me- particularly the black and white beginning which I didn't understand... I'm sure all will become clear!

I was so pleased to see Mike and I'm looking forward to 'meeting' other BB characters.

An exciting ending- I thought his plan would backfire. Looking forward to next week!

I was going to get a netflix trial just to watch this

I was a little disappointed in it. Hmm it didnt grab my attention like Breaking Bad did and i really wanted it to! I think it would be worse for someone who has never seen Breaking Bad, who doesn't have the knowledge of who Saul will become or the relevance of the recurring characters from Breaking Bad. I will however give it a chance as the writers are fab and i am looking forward to more.

I thought it was a really promising start. Loved the black and white 'present day' opening before jumping back to the past to show how he got there.
Interesting to see how Mike and Tuco figure in his journey to become the criminal criminal lawyer.
I'll be looking forward to the next episode.

I haven't seen all of Breaking Bad yet!!!

I agree with others that it was quite slow going. DH & I have decided we'd prefer it if they put the whole series up at once like they usually do. We like to binge watch so even when an episode is slow moving, watching 3 in a row means you still feel like a lot has happened!

We'll keep watching each week though as we enjoyed BB & we also need something to watch now that we're up to date with Walking Dead & Game of Thrones Grin.

Going to watch tonight and have high hopes!

Nothing has filled the gap like BB.

I loved all the connections to breaking bad, the White caddy that he eventually drives next to his actual car, Tuco being in it from the beginning. I'm not sure what is happening with Chuck but I'm intrigued to see where that goes. I'm loving Netflix for giving us Saul. It's a shame that they are coming out weekly from now on.

If I win I will hang it in brackets above the fireplace, then I will put the old one in my bedroom yo.
In your face bitches.
I loved it, loved the opening scene and hope to see more of present day Saul.

We watched both episodes back to back last night and really liked it. Only downside I can see is that when Jimmy is in peril you know he will be ok because he was in BB. However it follows the style of BB which we loved so will keep watching.

I liked what I saw. I always have liked Saul and Im happy that Mike is in it. I hope it continues the way it has started as I think the amount of tension/comedy/ action is just right.
And Im loving the Breaking bad connections

I haven't watched Breaking Bad, do you really need to have seen it to understand Better Call Saul?

I've just watched the first 2. BB took me a.while.to get into and I think this will be the same

Mini spoiler comment

I liked the bargaining in the desert (shouldn't be a real spoiler)

I enjoyed the second episode more. I found the desert scene both scary and funny at the same time. Looking forward to some more.

I liked it, although I agree it was slow to get into compared to BB. The opening was very stylish. You could see the development of Saul and I will be looking forward to see how things progress in the next few weeks.

So far so good, did anyone think he looked a bit like Walt in the black and white scenes at the start of the first ep? Mainly the glasses I think!

Never watched breaking bad because our laptop died and we don't have a tv Sad
I'd love to win this because I've heard how good bb is and the new series sounds good too

The first episode was a little slow, but after the second I'm hooked. Breaking Bad was a little slow at the start too. I loved Saul in Breaking Bad he's a great character.

Dh and I are absolutely hooked :) we have been waiting for this for ages! I just wish they had added all the episodes at once so we could watch it non stop like we did breaking bad. We are going to watch episode 2 tonight and I can't wait. Saul is such an amazing character!

Loved it - so happy to be back in the world of Breaking Bad. Happy to see Mike.
Preferred the second episode, loved the scene in the desert - beautiful cinematography.
Thanks Netflix for showing it the same time as USA!

Just saw this thread - only watched the first episode as dh has been away and we want to watch it together. Loving the BB references.

Looking forward to watching the series - normally we binge watch but watched BB over 5 years so quite enjoy the suspense of what's going to happen next week.
