Warner Brothers have asked us to find out what Mumsnetters and their DCs think of the trailer for the upcoming Lego Movie.

Here's what Warner Brothers have to say, "The LEGO® Movie is the first-ever, full-length LEGO® cinema adventure and is released on February 14th, perfectly timed for half term! The story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers, including many iconic characters such as Batman and Superman, on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. The cast includes Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman and we'd love to know Mumsnetters' thoughts on the trailer.”

You can watch the trailer here.

So what did you think of the trailer? What are your thoughts on the characters and voice overs? What about your DCs? Which part of the trailer did you like the most? Do you think you’ll be likely to take your LOs to see the film when it’s released?

Whatever your thoughts, Warner Brothers would love to hear about them!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive £150 worth of cinema vouchers.

Please note your comments may be included on Warner Brothers' social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Just watched this and I honestly can't type out all of my boy's questions. He's going through a huge 'why' phase!
He loves superheroes and lego and he would watch this. I'm not sure about the speed if the film as the dialogue and music is very quick and it's a bit hard to hear it all and explain it to a four year old as well! It l

Sorry posted too early and typos in there but overall it looks great but a bit too fast paced to hear it all.

It's not exactly a Christopher Nolan Batman, but it looks amusing enough.

I want to say "good-natured".

Cant wait for it Blush saw the trailer last week in the Cinema and ds newly wait himself with excitement and has been asking everyday since when are we going to see it (so it had better be good!)

We have the star wars lego films and think they are really funny, so I reckon this will be good, kids will love it with plenty of hidden adult jokes I hope. Good cast as well. and did I hear aha as the music, goody

Ds3 (7) loves Lego and superheroes. He says the film looks "fabulicious".

I saw the teaser trailer for this a few months ago and have been looking forward to it. I hope it's as good as the Lego Star Wars films, which are very clever.

Just watched it with almost 7yo DS and he liked the look of it. I have a very low tolerance for crappy kids films so we don't watch much but we'll probably go and see the Lego movie.

DS1 (6) and DS2 (5) have just watched this and say that they really want to see the film. According to them the trailer is funny, weird, crazy, exciting and awesome. Me, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch the film, as it's no Toy Story, judging by the trailer, but at least it's not the Smurfs. Or Alvin and the Chipmunks.

My 7 year old definitely wants to watch it and my other son and husband will probably go too.
It looks action packed, funny and fast paced. Also, the word 'butt' was mentioned by Batman. That got a huge laugh (from Ds of course, not me)!
I like the voice overs - Ds wouldn't have recognised them.

He's been watching Lego Star Wars on Tv recently and he's been recreating scenes and creating things with his Lego blocks and characters. Keeps him busy for hours.

Huge thumbs up from my 4 year old! Looks like a lot of fun. Lots crammed into the clip though. My LO was shouting characters as they appeared on the screen, batman and Ninja turtle got the best response and said at the end "I will see that in February mum!" Only 3 months to wait!

We will definitely be going to see it (children from 3-10).

We've seen the Clutch Powers DVD, and they all like that.

I'm seriously hoping a few of the jokes/phrases go over the younger one's heads though.

I have a feeling a couple of mine will spend the entire time yelling 'I've got that mini-fig, and that one, and I really need that one, it's only £££ on eBay!' Grin

Might look for a family/child friendly screening so we are not driven out of the cinema by outraged AFOL people who like to watch in silence... Blush

Nope, won't be going to see it; the trailer did not thrill.

Some of the Lego youtube clips spoofing other films were funny but I cannot imagine sitting through a full length film in Lego. I was not wowed or interested watching the trailer.

I still think Lego is fun to play with though.

Ds - 9 yrs and a huge lego games and movies fan (but not the toys) hooted throughout the trailer. So yes I expect he will go to see this with dad when it comes out, and his 4 yr old sister if he can persuade her.

Ds already knew about the film coming out anyway, apparently it's the first Lego movie in the cinema? Here are his comments about the trailer;

'I would really like to see batman in it. It's a shame it doesn't look as if lego Star wars is included. I think it's a brilliant idea to have an entire movie made out of lego. The trailer makes me really excited to see it.'

My DC are lego and superhero mad so will probably want to see this. We have seen a couple of Lego films and to be honest, I don't mind watching them. It does look quite fast paced so I suspect DC won't catch it all in the first viewing so they would appreciate the DVD more than seeing at the cinema. Saying that though, I have no doubt they will be asking to go see it at the cinema. It does look good and if we can fit it in, then I would probably take them to see it - although I think DH would probably want to be the one to take them! :)
(Hate the half-term timing mention though - our holidays are at different times in Scotland so the timing doesn't really effect us.)

My son age 6 loved it and said he wanted to see it at the cinema if its on. He loves lego and especially loved the fact it was lego.

Trailer is very fast paced and makes the film look fun and as if it will appeal to adults as well as children. Get a very good sense of the look and shape of the film. The voices sounded like I would expect them too - generic US thing - not very exciting, but predictable. I find that Lego stuff very weird. It is always Lego rather than what it is trying to be, so seeing Lincoln etc, very odd. I can see lots of tie ins with this - the usual Burger Bar stuff plus Christmas sets. Which I guess is very gratifying for the producers, but just reinforces to me the huge profits that are sought in 'media convergence' as they call it.
The children, of course, love the look of it and can't wait to see it.

Dh and ds are Lego mad.
Dh wants to go see it. Ds will too - so it will probably turn into a boys trip.

I think it looks quite dialogue driven/ heavy so a lot might be lost on my 4.5yo ds. But he likes Lego a LOT! :)

Dh and I liked playing the "spot the actor by their voice" game. :)

We'll probably end up going to see it as we have 2 Lego-mad boys. I liked the cast and voice overs but the lack of expression on the characters bugged me a bit and I wonder if this might make the DC lose interest. It doesn't appeal to me as an adult in the same way that some other kids films have. The soundtrack sounded quite punchy.

ShatnersBassoon · 01/11/2013 15:44

The kids love Lego animations, but I find them dull and lacking in humour. Sorry!

The DC want to see the film based on the trailer - "...awesome, cool..." etc. I will probably take them when it's on the Kids Club screening for £1 a ticket Blush

Looks great! We have been big fans of Lego forever and over the play station Lego games, also been to Legoland (twice) so even though kids now teens I think they will want to see this.... Just maybe not in the cinema, we will wait for DVD. Love Will Ferrell and Morgan Freeman voices.

I think it looks great - fun and action-packed. I can imagine children going home from the cinema and immediately getting their lego out! Unfortunately my children are probably getting abit too old for this film, but a few years ago they would have loved it :-)
