DS is in year 10. He's never shown interest in school work. Despite reading with him every day since being a baby, he has never read books. He is on track for level 2's at GCSE. Despite extra help, he just doesn't grasp maths. He has been in school through this lockdown but is at home today because of the snow. I've been watching him on zoom lessons. He shows zero interest and can't work independently to do the work set. Anything he does is rushed or copied. I go through the homework app with him everyday but he literally doesn't care what needs doing.
Post 16 will be college and unfortunately I think there is a real risk of him falling into poor company. This has always been an issue. He has a couple of lovely friends but always gravitates straight to trouble. This seems to be a need for some sort of stimulation?? He has plenty to do at weekends usually. Intense, physical sport.
I just don't seem to be able to change his mindset. Help !

Thought I'd answer because the thread was sitting there. You don't say whether your DS has any diagnoses (although I presume so given where you're posting). Could you try to get him straight into some vocational training with a view to getting a hands-on job (or apprenticeship)? GCSEs are not the only way forward.
