Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on SN.

SN teens and young adults

We’re thinking about merging this section, what do you think?

Hi all,
We’re doing some work on making the Talk boards more useful and user-friendly for both regular and new users. After looking at some stats for the site, we think we could boost activity on the whole by merging some of the lesser used sections.

We’re proposing to fold the topics in this section into the SN children area.

This should increase the number of topics in the section - and hopefully lead to more posts and responses to members.

What do you think?

I think it would be a good idea to merge all of the SN boards into SNChat and SNChildren.

So many people look at the SN area, don't know where to post, think it's like tumbleweed and decide to post on the main boards for traffic, often AIBU or Chat. Most of those posts are about autism.

Unfortunately, that in itself brings all the usual prejudices, disablism, minimising of red flags and autism bingo to the fore and dilutes any advice they receive. It also creates a lot more work for the MNTowers admins having to moderate a lot of the goady and ignorant posts which hopefully wouldn't arise if posters were directed to a livelier SN section.

Agree with BlankTimes, most posts are about autism, understandable, however there are quite a few of us here whose children have complex needs and there seems not to be a lot for them.

Think it's a good idea, only thing is, will it put off people who have SN young adult, if it only says SN children as the title?

First time reader of this category. It caught my eye as I have a Young Adult issue who isn't special needs, but I was keen to avoid the negativity that can ensue when posting in the AIBU section..

All I can say is posters here seem to be much kinder in their thoughts and suggestions...

So long as you change the name of the SN Children section to something like "SN 0-25" or "SN Children and Young People", I agree this seems a good idea.

I’d like an ADHD section please.
