Upset about Facebook post

I saw this Facebook post early on that’s upset me re a parent upset that her ds was hit by a special needs kid that was at local swimming pool that special needs children/teenagers use . It wasn’t that she was upset that her child was hurt that I can understand it’s what she said basically making out special needs children are a danger and to be aware to keep your kids safe and next time I quote ‘could be fatal’ . All very dramatic and totalling unnecessary. Also that she had a bit of a spat with one of the carers that were there but if she spoke them like she did on her post must be totally inappropriate. As a parent of a teenager with autism it just totally upset my how ignorant people can be . I know not everyone is like that but I was so annoyed and upset . How can she suggest special needs children are a danger to others . I was really tempted to message her to educate her but didn’t want to get into something with someone who is a idiot . I was only thinking the other day how much more excepting people are and awareness of autism but it’s like 2 steps forward 3 steps back .

I can really understand how you feel Sorry10. This kind of things really upsets me too. I like to think these attitudes are in the minority. Certainly my feeling is that people have a much greater understanding of autism these days. I hope it is just an isolated incident.
