Hello,

looking for websites or companies who are sympathetic to people who have no great qualifications but value hard work, or any help for ex statemented children, now looking for work we are IN Northants

Was he in mainstream or special school? Did he have a Connexions Advisor? If he was in a school in Northants he should have had one.
Which part of the county are you in?

I wondered about workbridge but as it is part of St Andrews I wondered if it was only for people already 'in their system'. No harm in looking though.

It is open to people who are not under the care of St Andrews, not sure how the process of getting on the programme works but worth making an enquiry

He has no metal issues, he did 3 years at college doing Painting and decorating for 2 yrs and 1 for Animal welfare. Passed his exams. He is very slow on the uptake is hopeless at maths, tho he passed Grade' C' in French.
His main problem is his lack of drive, ambition and is very lazy, which his mum and me definately aren't. ON a good day he will work with me but it's rare. I need to find him something. He wants to be a you tuber, or play Spanish guitar, both of which he does quite well.

He is possibly not 'bad enough' for workbridge then. My son, also 20, had a Statement in a mainstream school too.
Have asked a family member who works for Connexions in Northants. They said after three years at College he is out of their target group and he needs Job Centre Plus. Presumably someone at the Job Centre would be able to help you.
Wish I had some better suggestions. Sorry.

Which College was he at? Was it Moulton? Don't they have any careers advice for leavers?

Did you manage to find anything for you son? I will be in this position in future so, am wondering. I wish you (and him) luck!

Hello Eliza, ty for your kind comment, We got Pierre into amateur dramatics and it'd changed his life for the better. More confident, new friends. Still no job yet but, in a much better place.

best wishes to you too
