Our SN area is not a substitute for expert advice. While many Mumsnetters have a specialist knowledge of special needs, if they post here they are posting as members, not experts. There are, however, lots of organisations that can help - some suggestions are listed here. If you've come across an organisation that you've found helpful, please tell us. Hi further to our tribunal, we have heard via the school that the LA wanted to name, that we lost, I just don't understand how a child that is behind 3-4 years, and missed the whole of year 7, is to be entered into a mainstream school at year 8, their ofsted report although from 2013, and that's their latest report is inadequate in all categories, do you know if I can appeal the first tier tribunals decision?

Gina.. It's better if you post on the special needs children's board or chat.

But I'm so sorry, what was there reason ?

I'm a bit confused... Do you mean appeal to the upper tribunal?

You can apply for permission to appeal on a point of law, which could include any glaring mistakes about the facts or failure to give adequate reasons to enable you to understand why they have reached the conclusions they have. Have you received a copy of the decision? It should explain to you how to do that. I think the time limit is 28 days from the date it was sent out.

You probably need a lawyer to have a look at the decision, but maybe Ipsea or SOS SEN would have a preliminary look.

If you still have a Parent Partnership in your local authority or if you have a local Parent & Carer Forum they may be able to explain the decision. I'm not too sure but I've a feeling that Contact A family, or EVery Disabled Child Matters have offered some legal advice to some Parents. Might be worth going on their web sites and having a look if you can email them.
Good luck x
