My dd is just 2 weeks old, soon after she was born i noticed that her arms and legs were short in comparison to the rest of her body. The pead who examined her prior to our discharge told me that her airways and passages were narrow and i was to be very vigilent, he also went on to say that if she wasn't my 4th dc he would not allow us home (no explanation was offered) He did make anote on her notes about her short limbs.

We came home and things are going well, sh is prone to choking at times and she is snuffely and snores. I have noticed that the upper bones of her arms and her thighs are very short and her lower parts seem quite bowed. her facial features are also suggestive, the bridge of her nose is very flat. her head is a "funny" shape.

I suppose i really want to know where i should go next, I mentioned all of the above to the HV today but she just looked peplexed and asked is there was to be any follow up.It was ex dp who mentioned dwafism and now its in my head i can't get it out

Please give me a kick up the bum for being silly, or some words of wisdom

Hi Ohburger

Could you make an appointment with your GP - not sure if babies still have an eight week check with GP - I remember DD did but that was over 3 years ago. You have concerns so if I were you I would make an appointment with GP soon

You have obviously researched this very carefully and have very real concerns. I think it would be prudent to have a chat to your GP, and ask for referral to a paediatrician - IME GP's are next to useless unless you have a rash or a virus.

Good luck, please come back and chat if you want or need to, theres lots of very helpful advice here and the girls are fantastic with support.

My beautiful grandson at 4 months is now a ''cause for concern' regarding his shortened legs - from hip to knee and arms from shoulder to elbow. At a recent health check the health care professional commented on his larger than the norm head too.
We are beginning to realise that he may have a form of dwarfism.
The next step is to see his paediatrician.

Help and support please.
