'Oh not the baby, we don't like the baby' :(

DS had a neurological illness last summer which left him unable to walk for 3.5 months. He is now walking but progress is slow and is at the level of an 18 month old in terms of his gross motor skills. He is also on the bottom of the growth charts so people, children included think he is actually 1 rather than 3. He has just started at mainstream nursery every afternoon and has been there for about 4 weeks. When we went in today this is what two of the boys said to me. It didn't even register with DS who was oblivious but I was so upset. Did manage to have a quiet word with the teacher who reassured me they have not seen or heard anything similar and that he is included in games but will keep an eye on him. I am surprised at how upset I got. I need to 'pull myself together' and not worry that this will escalate into something a lot bigger and more detrimental to him. Not sure why I am posting, just venting in a safe area. Thanks for reading.

Glad the teacher is supportive.
