hmm Sounds very odd. My (non-walking) dd2 wears her all day except for an hour at lunch when they are taken off for a rest, and the socks too and her helper has to check that any marks are gone after 30 mins. She certainly doesn't get blue legs.

Time to contact your physio, I think!

An hour is a long time to stand without shifting position too, isn't it?

Well my dd2 came home from respite last night with the splints so loose they were almost off! - thats just as bad for them.
