After 2 years of screaming through haircuts, DS2 (4.1, receptive language probably between 2.6 and 3) went to the barbers yesterday and did not cry. He winced, he whimpered a little, he steadied himself saying "I not crying, I big boy", but he did not cry. Nor did he leap out of the chair, scream, writhe, etc, etc.
I brought a big towel from home to stop the hair going on him. I'd used it last time and, whilst he'd still screamed, he had clung to it for dear life so obviously felt some comfort from it.
The barber also gave him a special brush for brushing away hairs and that kept him occupied.
I wanted everyone in the shop to stop and applaud him. Doubtless they just felt he wasn't being naughtly for once . But you lot understand
