Ds has just gone into a wheelchair and loves it, he is learning to self propel ,but we re finding his arms not really long enough to reach the black propelling section so he uses the wheels but means his hands are filthy any idears please

can the wheels be moved? Most chairs are adjustable to fit the child.
Able2wear also do wheelchair gloves.

was he measured etc by wheelchair services? I've honestly not come across any paediatric wheelchair that couldn't be adjusted.
Maybe I've been lucky!

it sounds like the chair is too wide for him? Or the wheels are too far out. ds1 leans forward too much in his to self propel because it is a little wide for him and so he can't reach straight out how he should, we're off for an appointment in a couple of weeks.

I'd take him back, and tell them it needs sorting out.
