My son went through this, when he was a bit younger. He has social and communication issues as part of his dyspraxia and he was jsut the same, and couldn't understand how things didn't always happen as planned. In his mind if you said x then that was that. Caused no end of fights with his siblings whenever they wanted to change anything.

It took a lot of explaining with examples, and relating to him changing his mind or plans and quite a long time before he finally got it. I think I had to jump on him everytime he changed something for a while and point out that he wasn't lying and then eventually he started to see how others could do it!

I can't really offer much advice, but you're def not alone, and I wonder if social stories would help?

well tbh the jury is still out as to whether he has as or not! Paed was hoping to get a firm idea in next year or two <rolleyes>
