those dolls are freaky as it is, but this does seem ultra weird. Especially when you consider these things are often a form of child replacement for some women! Who would choose sn?!

Maybe its for those mums who want our blue badges and other 'perks'

dolls that are inclusive for children are one thing, but this is jsut odd!

I think it is awful. I find the whole idea of these life-like dolls odd anyway and the language in the advert description is inappropriate.
I think at a glance it looks like a dead baby.
What's the strange chimp holding the baby picture about?

There was a channel 4 programme about women with these dolls.

Freaky!!!! The downs syndrome really doesn't make any difference tbh, its just all weird & they cost a fortune.

I watched the c4 programme on this before and there were women that had dolls made to look similer to children they had that passed.

Maybe thats why there is a downs baby??
cant work out the chimp and baby one though?

Loving the posts, btw it's not my doll, it just come up on a special needs search. I thought similar to whats already been said. Apart from its other features, double chin and chubby cheeks!! For a start it's hands are not dumpy enough and the fingers are far too long. I could go on and on. Just curious what others thought so made a talking point of it.

That really is freaky, can't really make out the features that make this look like a baby with down's apart from maybe the nose I agree the freakishly long arms (long for any baby I reckon), huge hands and long fingers are especially odd. My own "special" baby was far cuter at birth and somehow rounder and more in proportion chubby fingers and all

Ugly brother doll and we didnt 'get' the chimp either! I think its all very weird personally and possibly a bit creepy. The new baby doll does look like a dread premature baby-I dont thinks its a good example of these dolls anyway. Some look really lifelike but this doesnt. Dont like it.

Don't like these "real" looking dolls anyway, SN or not, i saw one on ebay that had a moving chest? or maybe a beating heart?...can't remember which it was.

Doesn't look like a real newborn unless it's a bit alien or something! i mean the long fingers. ???

Please don't freak me out any further, a woman brought a reborn to toddler group before the holidays, yes she is slightly odd and has no chldren, but she wandered about cuddling her dolly all morning, put it in a bouncy chair, fed it changed it winded it - and the whole time it looked dead! It even frightened some of the children - scary!

Yes the people she usually sat with spoke to her but I think several of them were rather freaked. She asked one of them to hold her baby while she went to the toilet and the woman looked really uncomfortable. I'm probably opening a can of worms and going to get flamed or somthing, but i'm sorry the doll looked dead, I've seen pictures of dead babies and thats all I could think of every time I saw it. I'm nearly due again myself and I think thats why it freaked me out so much.

(one of the playgroup organisers was also slightly but reassured me that the doll hadn't actually been registered with the playgroup and so we didn't need to sing it a welcome song or happy birthday at any time in the near future...)

No idea. She hasn't been coming to the playgroup for very long, there are a lot of people there and I've never had any opportunity / reason to talk with her before. She has always been surrounded by her own friends and I've been busy with my kids iykwim? However I suspect you are probably right, she got very cross with a child who bumped into the pram when the baby was sleeping a bit later on. Sad for her really as she must want a real one of her own? I kind of wish she could have afforded one that didn't look cyanotic (sp?)though. It was really bluey iykwim? Anyway nuff said, its my issue that it freaked me out...
