Frequent vomitting question

I was hoping someone could help me, DS2 is 2 in September and has Downs Syndrome.

He previously had problems with breathing, eating and severe sleep apnea.

Because of this he wasn't putting on any weight as he was using all his calories up to breath at night.

A few months ago he had his tonsils and adenoids removed and this has made a vast improvement and he has at last doubled his birth weight.

However in the last couple of weeks he has started being sick frequently throughout the day (anything up to 30 times a day). He isn't vomitting huge quantities but rather is leaving small trails all over the flour.

He did have a problem keeping down food before his operation, but this was related to the amount of food (if he had too much he would projectile vomit it all), this is completely different.

It is even worse when he has liquids.

Has anyone got any experience of this with their children and could suggest what the problem could be and how I could help avoid it?

I have asked for an appointment with his paed but can't get one for a while and as I had DS3 last week, I really wish I didn't have to be cleaning the carpets 20+ times a day.

Congratulations on the arrival of DS3 !!

Probably a silly question, but have you contacted your GP ? If so, what did they say ?

I did go to the GP this week, as DS2 also has a sore/pressure point on his big toe due to his ponsetti boots & bars which he wears at night due to his talipes and I wondered if the two things were connected.

However the GP didn't agree and I didn't really get any answers, which to be honest seems to be the same for both my children (DS1 has severe autism), it seems that the GP's prefer for their medical needs to be met by their paeds.

That's ridiculous, especially when you have to wait so long for a paed appt !!

If I were you, I would phone the GP and let them know you're worried. Tell them you've tried to get him a paed appt, but can't and are concerned. You don't need this stress with a new baby either.

Your GP should be doing more to help!

My DS1 has ASD & my GP has always been really good (probably helps that I used to work for him! ).

Don't give up if you're worried. Be pushy and ask for a second opinion if you have to.

Hi There

Sorry to hear about your little ones health problems. Has your child's kidney functionality been checked. I have a baby with chronic renal failure, and one of the side affects is excessive vomiting. Hopefully this is not the case with yours, there are a number of anti- reflux medications that your GP can prescrip e.g. Domperidone, this may help.
