DS2 is ill for the first time with something I can't diagnose - help please!

DS2 has been off colour for a couple of days - just a bit more withdrawn than usual, and asking to go to bed straight after dinner. Having said this he's also had periods when he's gone back to his old self.
Tonight he suddenly started crying in the middle of dinner, got down from the table and spent the next hour and a half pacing in a circle continuously and crying intermittently. He rarely cries. He didn't want any comfort from me - didn't want me near him really and though I tried some simple questions: ' Point to what hurts?', 'Tummy hurt?' 'Teeth hurt?' etc. he either couldn't or wouldn't respond. No temperature otherwise I would have thought swine flu! In the end I rang the dr who said to give him Calpol, which I did. He calmed down after about 30 mins and is now asleep. Not sure what will happen when the Calpol wears off.

My instinct is it's stomach related - he was walking slightly hunched over and pulling in his stomach muscles - but of course this could just be a response to pain. But it's so difficult when they can't tell you what's wrong - or even respond to pain in the same way as a child without sensory difficulties might do. I'm probably lucky as it's the first time it's ever happened - when he's been ill before it's either been asthma or being sick - both pretty obvious!

Don't expect anyone to diagnose really - just wanted to offload. Dh is away and not answering his mobile. Really do not want a hospital dash in the middle of the night...

how was he in the night sphil? and is he ok this morning?

Has he been for a poo? could he be constipated? this tends to make ds2 uncomfortable, irritable & tearfull rather than having pain in one area iykwim.

I hope he is feeling better this morning.

He slept all night and seemed fine this morning, but wouldn't eat any breakfast. I managed to feed him a few mouthfuls of toast just before leaving for school, which he ate happily. I noticed last night and this morning that he keeps pulling at his penis, so am now wondering if it could be urinary? But he'd have a temp with a urine infection wouldn't he?
He'd done a poo in the night but it was quite hard so could be bowel related I suppose. And a small part of me is wondering whether it could still be a knock-on effect from the dairy he ate 10 days ago - but it's too long ago surely?

I've sent him into school with firm instructions for them to call me if he seems off colour again. He ran in smiling - I think they thought I was mad!

OK - fine at school, though his TA said he asked to go to loo more often than usual and then often didn't do anything. He's been fine since we got home but has just started the intermittent crying again.

Am now thinking urine infection - he's still pulling at willy.

Have oyu had a good look at "it" does it look sore. Maybe his willy?

It looks normal to me, but will have good look when he's in the bath. He stopped crying quite quickly this time but is quieter than usual - even DS1 has noticed (so it must be obvious, as he has his head in Pokemon Platinum on his DS!)
