I've been doing Social Skills in our primary school and have been looking at setting up a programme for them for Sept.

I just came across this site www.educational-psychologist.co.uk/interventions.htm and it's fantastic! It has programmes you can introduce at home or in school that help deal with anger/listening skills/social skills/negative attention etc. It's full of useful tips and advice and I'm printing reams of it off to show our Head.

All of the downloads are free. There is advice on dealing with dyspraxia, dyslexia, autism, ADHD and so on, information on Ritalin, how to tackle elective mutes, how to help children having difficulty reading/writing. It's just fantastic!

There is some useful stuff there, but some is little more than private advertising.
Also, some of what they suggest coud be positively dangerous in the wrong hands, such as 'diagnosing' what sort of a reader a child is based on no. of errors in a smaple.

Sorry if I sound like I am casting aspersions.Generally speaking the internet is fabulous for sharing resources and particulalry for empowering parents to help their own children.

Ah, I see what you mean. But I've printed out the stuff on social skills, listening skills and anger management and I've found them to be very useful. I have a small group of children twice a week in the school who are having difficulties, and some of these sessions are proving very useful for them, and useful for us in learning how to deal with certain behaviours.
