first, if 2shoes is reading.........my email is [email protected] not on FB tonight, lots of people pop up and not in the headspace IYGWIM.

right......I have the report from the neuropsychology team that his paed referred him to.

I am gonna copy as much as poss, so will wirte his name as is, tis easier.

.............................................................................

jacob was referred for an assessment following concerns about his attention and literacy.

the results of his assessment show that jacobs overall cognitive functioning is withint he average range. his visual memory is comaparable to his peers and his memory for verbal material is in the highly superior range! jacob does not show attention probs. his verbal attention is in the average range and his visual attention is in the high average range.

there was a slight discrepancy between his ability to understand and express himself - jacob ability to express himself verbally may lead to others to believe he understands better than he does.

his processing speed was slower than expected however and is in the extremely low range. this may in partly be due to the fine motor element of the test as jacob could not complete these.

jacob also could not complete the literacy task . his reading and spelling were in the borderline and extremely low range indicating dyslexia.

.........................................

there follows lots of notes about how scores are reported etc. they used WISC-IV, CMS ad WIAT-II to show how he scored compared with peers of his age.

she noted that the sessions took place over two 3 hr sessions with breaks, one week apart. jacob was reluctant to egange in the assessment and needed much encouragement in order to stop him leaving the room. this was particularly the case during the 2nd day. he was often physically active, jumping on the funiture or moving around. it appeared that if jacob felt he would have difficulty with a task, he would use distraction or simply leave the room!

ok, thats long enough for now......only thing I do think important.....he scored less than 1st percentile on te processing spead. ie, processing disorder???

help please....can answer Qs now, but need some info on what to ask the GP tomorrow.

oh, one other..........on the recommendations they say refer to OT for his fine motor processing issues, and immediate intervention for his literacy probs. who do I ask, where do I go for that?? does the GP refer, or the school??

TIA

thankyoou

what about the referral for the OT tho??

and the sensory issues???

all this is new to me....I was thinking ADD, she seems not to agree, but then, the way he behaved during the session smacks of ADD.....(ie, the getting up and jumping across the furntiture, and the walking out!)

ooh, just realised........should have said, DD2 and DS1 are both dyslexic, that I can handle.

tis the rest of it really. I always figured it to be just jacob, and part me (ie, babying him as he is my smallest). to find he might indeed have something 'named'..... (IYGWIM)
