definitely use a thermos - Lakeland do a good wide necked one (easy to get spoons in and out and to clean) which keeps dd1's lunch hot for her when we go on days out.

I have the Stanley one - it is expensive, but it does keep stuff nice and hot (I would say 7 hours is pushing it - although I had to last year going on hioliday, and it was still warmish) - when I have used them, putting stuff in at say 8am, it is still a good heat at lunchtime (12-30-1ish)

Our local The Range stocks them, and there is one near you I understand (OK I googled) at Avonmead retail park
