we herd back frm panel we been turned down for our request of sn school for ds as the local ms has another child due to start this year who is non verbal and has downs, and they feel since everythings got to be in place for this little girl that they can kill 2 birds one stone and save them self some money and that ds can go ms even though school have n experiance of teaching non verbal children

oh pheonix, Im sorry, that is cterrible. That is rediculous to make a judgement based on another child. Aren't they supposed to treat every case as individual.

We are in same position and the decision was made last firday but we havent heard anything yet. We will definately know by tomorrow as we are meeting with the case worker.

Will you take it to tribunal now?

Can you make a case based on the differences between the other child and yours? It is the opposite here (as far as i can tell). I know a boy who is verbal and only mild LDs but the 'system' was horrified by his mother's tentative enquiries about mainstream schooling. Obviously they look at the schools before they look at the children's individual needs. I know we are lucky to have SN schools still open but it always seems that the parent is the one with no choice.

Doesn't sound right at all - surely each case is treated as individual!?!! The fact there are other children with sn should not prevent your child getting the education he needs? Can the ms school help in getting you sn? We did that - ms did not want dd2 full time so helped our case for sn.

The ms accepted him on he first draft statment the one i rejected. They do have couple of other children with sn but never taught anyone like ds.Its not like i dont know the school , dd goes to it.ds functions at around 18 months - 2 years in most areas he be 4 next month due to start this September

Tried that tact but the other mum accepted the lea offer of 14 hrs for her dd.where ds been awared 32 hrs hough rejected as its not specified on how he recieves it.

yes I thought it was indiviusal but it seems to come down to money as always not the child
