ds had his 2nd consultant appt today. last was with developmental paed in nov, this was a specialist paed(in asd's). basically sat and repeated history that Id already given at first appt and answered lots of questions. she said conners scales were borderline (although both mine and schools were mostly 1s and 2s)and that as he is only 5 she doesnt want to label until she gets a better picture of whats going on. we were given a "mood diary" with stickers in it for school and me to fill out and she said she would ask the school to be more proactive in communicating more with myself.
she then booked another appt to see us back in end of november.

I came away feeling no clearer than when i went in. i dont know quite what i expected from her, but I feel pushed away and left to cope alone for another 5 months.

Im feeling quite despondent and I dont feel we're any further forward than 8 months ago.

Im a bit scared too. ds is v tall and heavy/strong for his age now, its getting progressively harder to manage him and Im so worried that fast forward 6months/a yr and I will have a totally uncontlable child.

Dont know what kind of response i expect, just needed to vent i guess

can't really offer any practical advice on what to do next, but that certainly sounds disappointing and unsatisfactory. is this mood diary meant to include what leads up to meltdowns then? are you happy with his language? or is he under salt as well?

His language is ok as in his vocab, he uses "i dont know" "i cant remember" alot, he takes a while to string sentances together using "ummm", alot chatters incessantly, constant questions and noises. but i think his language is ok-i have nothing/no one to compare him to, so im not 100% sure what difficulties with language i should be worried about.

she said the mood diary was for her to see if theres any patterns or triggers.

hes not under salt. he sees an ed psych
