Applying for mobility component of DLA

We have to reapply for dd's DLA which expires in October (they are hassling me for forms already). Now, in Oct she will turn 3 and should therefore qualify for mobility as well as care.

But, do we have to wait until she is actually 3 to apply for the mobility? Anyone know? Will the good people at the DLA processing office have the nouse to realise that she will turn 3 from when the award is made even though she isn't when I fill the forms in?

I am worried that I am going to spend hours filling out these forms and then have to reapply in a few months time to get the mobility element.

No, you can apply 6 months before so it starts on the day after her 3rd birthday

HITC, that's why dd's mobility forms have still not been completed, and I 've had them for a year. Basically it's so that you can get them in an if she qualifies, she can be getting the allowance as soon as she is 3.

So the longer I leave my forms, the more money we are losing-that's if dd quailifies anyway.

Definitely apply for it now!! I waited till dd's renewal which was after her 3rd birthday and they wouldn't let her have the mobility until her 4th birthday (we should have applied for it when she was 3 not at the renewal).

if they do it right their computer should prompt them later on about the mobility bit.

we automatically got sent forms about 5 months before she turned 3
