I don't know whether that is poor for the whole country but it is a huge amount of support in comparison to what my ds and dd recieved following their diagnosis.
The total amount of support was 1 hour every three weeks with the early years teaching service and SALT for 30 minutes every 6 weeks.
My two did no pre school but entered nursery with a full statement at 3 and a half, would add though that they got the statements because I fought tooth and nail as LEA advised a get them in school and see how they cope approach.
In my experience you get a diagnosis and have to work it out for yourself how best to proceed, I hope that this isn't a national situation though.

I'ld be somewhat hmm about the excellent support description. Obviously it's better than nothing - the opportunity class also sounds potentially good. I think it's a damned cheek to include the bogstandard toddler group as part of any "package". the bi monthly SALT isn't great either - did they say whether she was an asd specialist SALT - but if that SALT really knows what she is doing then bi monthly could work out fine, as so much of the SALT work is done by us parents anyway, with SALT there to guide us as to what to do next and how! Do they run any Hanen courses in your area? an ASD specific one exists - More than Words

Since I got bog all support with DS other than a Hanen course (which I know I am lucky my area ran!) I am not the best person to ask. From your other posts you sound quite switched on to the local support groups etc, so at least can get an idea for what may be available locally...
