I so don't get this, we got all of ours paid(so did my friend, who has 2 incomes)
I know your dd is more disabled than mine(sorry ) but I would think the equipment would be the same. are you having a lift or a ramp?

oh that would be why as lifts cost ££££
we have a winch that stops any tilting

they are buggers arent they?

despite getting the full grant for the kia sedona im now going to have to put £2200 to it to get the car i want.

knew i was going to have to pay £1,200 towards it anyway, £200 deposit and £1000 for an automatic which i decided i NEEDED after our recent long trip down south, traffic was murder! grin

but apparently there are NO auto base models and they only have the next model up which is £1000 dearer.

I already have about £1500 so will have 12 weeks to beg borrow or steal the other £700! angry

what van was it?
did you ever look at the long wheelbase peugeot expert from o&h mobility?
not the pretiest granted, but supposed to be the cheapest that can take two wheelchairs?

i suppose its my own fault for being a lazy mare as the base model Sedona in a manual would only cost me £440, but i am wondering if the salesman was pulling a fast one when he said they only had automatics in the dearer model.
i asked about waiting longer for a base model auto to become available but he said Kia arent building them at the moment in the current economic climate hmm

Is that £6000 for a car that you have to hand back after 3 years? What then? Do you have to find another £6000?

glitteryb6 Fri 29-May-09 19:16:28

was her chair tipping because of the angle of the ramp, maybe a lower angle ramp would work ?

this is the LWB peugeot it can seat up to 5 plus two wheelchairs

when ds gets his powerchair he wont be able to travel in it without a special docking system as it doesnt have anchor points but they said i could still transport it if he wasnt travelling in it, not sure how it would be tied down right enough?

think if the vehicle floor is lowered the ramp doesnt need to be as long but you could argue for the lift with motability as there really isnt room for an 8 foot ramp if you parked in your disabled space (once the skips gone obv! grin) and also the longer the ramp the more chance of someone driving over it in supermarket car parks etc

Grrr

glitteryb6 Fri 29-May-09 21:04:07

probably highly illegal but would be sooo funny!

meltedmarsbars Fri 29-May-09 22:35:46

Glittery - can you not get anchor points put on the chair? I would not like to drive around with an unsecured power chair in the back.

As for the long ramp blocking supermarket car parks - been there, done that - lots! grin They just have to be patient and wait for us to disembark!!

trouble is people are so thick, I am always getting boxed in, last time I had to get some nice lady to wit with dd(I won't leave her unatended, whilst I pulled into the road, I then had to block of the road whilst I loaded her.
