Found a Karate class for J

I've mentioned before that I've been looking for a martial arts class for J. I'd checked one out at the community facility where J does football, but the instructors had no knowledge of SN and classes were twice a week, so I wasn't keen. Well... someone mentioned another class close to where we live so I called in on Saturday to chat about it. Turns out the instructor teaches special needs to student teachers at Newcastle College, and when I asked if he knew anything about AS he said "Oh, it's a form of autism, I know quite a bit about that". And the classes are very cheap at £2 a session, just a short walk from home, and after we were allowed to stay and watch part of the black belt class J was utterly smitten! Beginners class starts in about six weeks and he can't wait!

That sounds great.

I did a form of martial arts throughout my teenage years and it was fantastic. I learnt far more than just the physical stuff. Its great discipline, and for me, it was a great way to lose some teenage anger!.

Hope he enjoys it!

DS (NT)5, has been going to karate sessions for about 6 weeks now. He adores it, has his own suit now and is practising at home daily now.

At first he said, that he wouldn't practice around dd (DS)3, as it might frighten her but now she copies alongside him, it is just so cute to watch!

I hope he enjoys it as much as my ds does!

Ds1 is keen to start karate classes but is still too young. Most of my family have done martial arts at some point and I loved my karate lessons. I bet J will love it too. His instructor sounds perfect IMO.
