sympathise with you because this is what happened with DS,the LEA didnt ask SALT to see him,we had to ask them to and send the report to the LEA,but this happened after his statement was finalised,we have got it included in his statement review though.

its probably because there are lack of SALTs to carry out help and there might be a risk of them having to employ a private one which they HATE.

as for EP,s dont get me started, we ended up getting a private one and fought for his report to be included the LEA EP we had was as good as a chocolate teapot and never returned calls either, you might be better off writing to her/him,that usually gets a response.

hiya
i got him through the NAS,they will give you a list (depending on how many there are of course!!) of private EP,s and psychs in your area,i just phoned their main telephone line.

i think its a rare thing to get an LEA EP that "doesnt" toe the line these days.

We also got a private ep assessment out of desparation when the LEA said ds 'did not have LD'. (I think they do not understand centiles!!) The LEA completely ignored it when preparing the statement, (so it seemed we had wasted our money) but the helpful bit was we then had a better idea of ds needs and were armed to fight for them. A private ep does not have his/her hands tied and can be honest. Importantly the paed did read the report.

Hope you get honesty. It is so important to supporting a child and often so lacking 'in the system'.

Phoenix anothr option is the BIBIC EP? they can sort one.

HCP centiles are a joke; here speech over 6th centile is 'normal'. FFS!

Keep refusing to finalise statement until you can get a SALT report included. A SALT report indicating need backs up a claim for support so is really important when making decisions.
