have just phoned them as we had been to see sALT and mentioned that she should soon get request as we are in prelimnary stages for statement assment , myself and preschool hve had ndretured o being me i phone up the deprtment nd there like oh we dont normall ask for SALt report at this stage, im like rghhhhhh this is his biggest problem course your going need to see report
as for trying get hold of the Ep been waiting forcall back since december
sympathise with you because this is what happened with DS,the LEA didnt ask SALT to see him,we had to ask them to and send the report to the LEA,but this happened after his statement was finalised,we have got it included in his statement review though.
its probably because there are lack of SALTs to carry out help and there might be a risk of them having to employ a private one which they HATE.
as for EP,s dont get me started, we ended up getting a private one and fought for his report to be included the LEA EP we had was as good as a chocolate teapot and never returned calls either, you might be better off writing to her/him,that usually gets a response.
thanks will give them call , he hs /Gd and non verbal as for asd their sitting on fence atm though they agreed he does have some autistic traits, just want a honestopion that not down to money which seams be case with lea
We also got a private ep assessment out of desparation when the LEA said ds 'did not have LD'. (I think they do not understand centiles!!) The LEA completely ignored it when preparing the statement, (so it seemed we had wasted our money) but the helpful bit was we then had a better idea of ds needs and were armed to fight for them. A private ep does not have his/her hands tied and can be honest. Importantly the paed did read the report.
