Had a touch of the jealous green monster today :(

Beautiful day today, not a cloud in the sky. Perfect spring day. We had friends over for dinner last night - it was lovely, but dh and I are feeling jaded and I had rotten night with ds2 who has terrible cold/virus. Turned into bed at 1.30am - woken up by ds1 who had wet his bed at 2.15am - back to sleep to be woken up by ds2 at 3.15am (who then didnt go back to sleep until 6am ) I then slept until 11am, courtesy of dh giving me a lie in. Why, oh why, do we always burn the candle at both ends? We so rarely have friends round, but when we do look what happens!!

Anyway, shock off the jaded feel - went to a National Trust Property - ds1 moaned that it was boring (admittedly they had roped off all the fun grassy slopes that 8 year olds like to run down), ds2 (fast asleep in buggy - now he sleeps!!) and we were surrounded by loads of `perfect' famillies out with their NT 18mth darlings, walking, pointing, babbling etc. etc. Everywhere we looked!! Am I really a terrible person/jealous cow. I don't begrudge other people there healthy little darlings, but by God life sometimes seems so unfair....

Sorry to sound off, but I thought I'd get that out of my system before I went to bed

There aint no such thing as a 'perfect' family Merlot.
They are merely behaving reasonably in the nanosecond that you glance their way!

Sorry that you are down.

I've had a very sad lonely bank holiday w/end on my own with my two (dh abroad again) feeling jealous of all the families who are together.....

misdee · 28/03/2005 22:52

we cant consider any family outings atm

Aw (((hugs)) Merlot. Know the feeling. I do try not to wallow in it.. but I know it well! I also feel bloody pssed off that some silly cow on another site (like this but not) has been banging on and on for days now about how people on benefits who shouldn't be entitled to them (that includes us who claim disability benefits.. she tars everyone with the same brush! ) and there could never be a situation where she* would need to claim them... because 'having a disabled child is so unlikely that it could never happen to her' and besides, she is insured against ALL eventualities!! Don't know why I let these ignorant people get to me.. but we LIVE on disability benefits unfortunately (due to DH being disabled too) and it makes me bloody mad to think that some people think we are sitting on our arses living the life of riley, when in fact we are always scraping for every penny.. and also that some people must view us as scum of the earth!

So yes.. I would love to be 'a normal standard family' too.. even though they probably don't exist!

Jayzmummy., it wasn't babyworld was it? I would love some of the people that post on that particular forum to come on here and say what they say.. they'd really get 'what for' from the eloquent, clever people on this site!

Jayzmummy · 28/03/2005 23:26

Nope.....must be something in the air because the topic got very heated in the chatroom I was in last night!!!!!! Lots of SN parents really gave her what for but she was having none of it....silly old moo!!!!

SJ, I don't use BW any more for exactly that reason - found the small-minded circular discussions were being lorded over by a handful of idiots and couldn't bear it any longer!

Misdee, go get 'em

I know. I think sometimes these people MUST see that perhaps somebody else has a point.. but they these types will never acknowledge it!

Sorry Merlot, for going off on a tangent here. It was just your 'perfect family' comment that made me think of these stupid people on certain threads.

(Just checked back there and someone has left a very nice post in support of people who are forced to claim/live on benefits. Nice to know some people are not ignorant, judgemental and close-minded!)

Hunker, I know what you mean. I steered clear for weeks.. didn't even miss it.. then popped back on a couple of weeks ago, and got involved in this particular thread (couldn't ignore it!).. and it's still going on.. with one of the same two silly cows still banging on her 'high paid job that she can go back to whenever she chooses'.. Grr!

I so often want to start a thread on there that is titled "FFS, get on MN and Get Educated!"

Intrigued now - can't remember enough about people on there to know who you mean! Only go back for my antenatal club, and that less and less. The pop-ups drive me mental and the site seems REALLY slow!

Oooh and MUST just tell you guys.. this same ditzy cow started a thread a few weeks ago (I searched for it after I saw it mentioned!) about how 'other people's children are often so UGLY!' She got lynched for a bit.. and then a few people joined in and AGREED with her!!!

Whatever would she think of my gorgeous (to me!) little man, who at four still dribbles and makes all kinds of odd faces! (I didn't 'go there' on that thread.. I would have sworn at her and got deleted/banned.. they are good at that on there!)

Her name is Heather Ohhh Hunker.. I know you want to...! You ought to resurrect the "Ugly Babies" thread as well.. that forum has been lacking without your 'non-mincing of words' input!

Sadly, Jayzmummy, there really are people that stupid out there...and most of them are on BW's debate forums.

No Jayzmummy..I fear she is only too geniuine. I can spot I troll miles off.. (at least mostly! ) Those forums used to be teaming with them.. some of them were fairly amusing!

HM there are no pop-ups on the forums since they updated them.. still a bit crap though.. you can't refer to the post you are replying to whilst typing, much less the whole thread like you can on here! (Still they did create those new forums in SUCH a rush.. like...... 2 years PML!)

I made a comment about 'flouncing' on there the other day.. lol.. I think it went over their heads!!

Moonndog, she is either a NFB as you say.. or a bit thick.. possibly both! (Being thick is no excuse for remaining so un-informed though..)

I have said some pretty inflammatory (to some!1) things about b/feeding, but I can't believe that someone could be so deliberately unkind.
