Question about Headsprout and/or which mouse for a child with poor motor skills?

Moondog has been raving about the Headsprout reading program. Looking at it online it looks fantastic. I know that TotalChaos is using it as well. However, it has one major drawback from my point of view: it requires the child to be able to use a mouse. My DD is absolutely hopeless with a mouse. She also struggles to point so I'm not sure that I could get her to point to things while I click them. Does anyone have a recommendation for a mouse that's more suitable for a child with delayed motor skills? I was wondering if a tracker ball type mouse would work? Just thought I'd see if anyone here had any experience...

We used a huge trackball.

Ds1 can use a mouse now (via the trackball) but actually I've just switched to a clip on touch screen for him, as he likes the interactive whiteboard at school and I think it's just easier. Can be used with any program apparently.
