DLA renewal time

I got the forms this week - it felt like such a long time when we first got awarded dla last year. Anyway, it's up for renewal end of March 09 but the letter said I can apply now? Is it better to apply now and get it out of the way but I am worried that dd will be different by the time it comes to March - for example at the moment she is walking about 100m with her Kaye walker but she may be moving onto sticks by then (although who knows what the future will hold?). Also is the info at Cerebra still the best for help with DLA? DD has spastic diplegia.

Thanks

Apply now, then when its awarded they will start it straight away.
DS has spastic diplegia too. Don't forget when filling out the form you must remember to write it out as if you was going to give your dd to my Aunt Tilly for a week, all the worst possible scenerio's .. Thats what ds physio says to do, and it worked for us.

I found the cerebra guide excellent.

I have always applied as soon as poss. and then you can take your time with the forms and always fill it in for the worst case scenerio.

This time my daughter's award lasts for 6 years which I was delighted about but I'm unsure if that is her age or a new policy.

Ds1's is due for renewal in July next year. I think we've got a good claim for low mobility now, but going through usual guilt of "well why do we need the money?"

Howlingbellyofbeelzebub · 15/10/2008 10:40

thank you - does that mean that they will start paying out for mobility even though she's not 3 until March? I'm going to pull my finger out now and get on with it.

they will not pay for mobility until she is 3, I didn't relaise she was not three, I would be inclined to ring and ask for the forms but not send them back until after christmas if that is the case.
Have you asked your physio for free nappies?

ive will be getting dd,s renewal form soon, and am going to reapply straightaway,im dreading doing it as you have to put worse case scenario on it,but it really is a godsend, without the dla money we would be stuck in at weekends, this enables us to take dd out and have some family time, also without the car we would be really stuck.

Mitchell81 · 16/10/2008 19:58

I am sure we don't have a renewal date, could that be possible?

saffiw · 17/10/2008 20:54

Mitchell ring and ask them, they are very helpful (in that department)and will tell you
