We're having 2 rooms knocked into one and a door put in stead of a window .

so i am dreading it....my possible AS tendancies ate screaming at me that everything will be out of order-messy-strangers all over the place trying to make small talk!!!

I have imagined and planned for what i believe will happen....but i am feeling lousy at the moment!

I've explained to the boys that this particular wall will be knocked down- at the weekend we are going to actually draw on there the outline of the archway that will be made.

But i'm suddenly realising the impact...the computer will have to move...the t.v will have to move.....GRrrrrrrrH Is tthis ever worth it?

How long have they said it will take?We have had a lot of builders and it drives me mad tbh but usually worth it!I would advise you to be out for the bulk of the day as I ended up being tealady and marriage counsellr in the end not fun!Butjust imagine the big open space when its done.Could you stay a couple of nights with friends?

they reckon day i is knocking through to the two rooms...and fitting me a 'stable door' hopefully before that so that i can atleast stay in the kitchen away from the dust...we have no door there at the moment!!

I feel bothered about leaving them alone in my home...however my husband says they'll be too busy earning our money to snoop around!

So the second day is the knocking out the window- fitting the 'patio' door....then wednesday they are bricking up the old back door....thursday is the chippy doing the new skirting/internal door frames....and friday the plasterer comes to 'make good the chaos'!!!

I will be out 2 mornings....it was being done w/c 21st march- we are away then- but had to be cancelled- so we opted for next week rather tahn wait till MAY!!!

(DON'T LAUGH at the STABLE DOOR COPPERTOP...tis not for the DONKEY...but i reckon every parent should have one...shut the bottome half so i can be alone in the kitchen!!!!!!!)

MrsF - you have my sympathy, I woke up with a panic attack the night before my builders started. They are here in at the moment extending my kitchen, knocking through to the dining room and putting in a downstairs toilet. It's been fine so far as all the work has been outside but as of tomorrow they're starting inside. I've had to move the computer into the living room and last night all five of us were actually in the same room for a bit which was a nice change. Ds2 although NT, has a real thing about change and also needs his routine and hates untidyness so I'm expecting a few rough moments with him. Hope it goes well for you if not we can rant together.

I just commented to dh that our builders seem to have good bladders as they never come in to use the loo......he informed me that they are 'going' behind the garage !!

funny you should say that, (builders weeing behind garage), i mentioned this to my hubby (an ex builder) and he told me that most builders go behind their van or in the customers gardens, much to my delight he then told the builder what i had said. .

i must admit MrsFROSTgetful that i have thought about going down to dorset to spend a couple of days with in-laws, while the builder gets on with it.

I felt the same way before my builders started too, especially as I am not good with strange men. Everything turned out fine. My builders started 3rd week in November and finished the main part today!! They will now only pop back in at the weekends to finish the few extra's that we added on as they went. I got to know them really well and am sure that i will probably miss the adult interaction as I am home with my 2 boys. (we had a garage built with a 3rd bedroom above, plus an extension of the lounge and a seperate dining room off the kitchen)

I wish you the best of luck, I am sure that everythign will be fine.

oh, and as for builders having good bladders, I was originally glad when the portaloo showed up, but then wasn't too pleased as it was deposited on my driveway! I have never been so glad to see the back of a day-glo orange box!!

How's it going MrsF?

It's bloody awful here today.....no heating, electric going off every few minutes (put paid to my MN time today!) and the upstairs hasn't got an intact floorboard, nightmare!

Hope it's all going okay, MrsF, and that you'll soon have your donkey...er...stable door.

Is everything okay, MrsF? You haven't disappeared again, have you? Or have the builders bricked you in?

Was wondering too CT - have visions of her sitting there covered in brick dust! And believe me it gets into places you never thought you had lol!

LOL! I bet it makes sitting down to use the computer a little..er..uncomfortable!

She's probably laminated the builders by now and is trying to sell them on E-Bay.

Well....i am still here...lots to tell you....but today is the first day that we finally have the pc back in action and i've literaly just this minute finally got the internet working as we've moved the pc from one end of the house to the other,,,,and the old cable didn't reach that far...so every time we wanted to use the internet we had to wheel the computer trolly up and down the dust ridden house (THAT is another story...the one about the Builders and the interaction between their Rubble MY Hoover...not a good meeting i must say....!)

Still not to bad here really- plasterer coming monday to 'make good' etc the walls....and all said- we are pleased!

Will hopefully cahst on here later tonight after 8

Helloooooo - I've had Mr Plumber here today..ALL day and he's done about three bits of pipe. Me thinks this is going to be a long job.

MrsF - I've hidden my good hoover and left a battered 1960's cylinder thingy for the builders to use. Hope yours lives to see another day
